sorry, but it does not get reset. red cards are not being put in same pool as yellow cards. if you had 2 yellow and a red after, it will still stay 2 yellow after u did your red card suspension.
besides after the last game in group stage, everyone's yellow cards will be reset for the final stages.

if they really did not want to get a yellow in their next match to avoid suspension in the KO stage, mou could just let those players give a rest. RM got enough replacements to pick from..

I think there's something wrong about your info I think Mou did it cause the Yellow card will be cleaned not after the last game and after 1/8? or not?

you are right. it seems uefa has a different suspension rules than fifa. i know for sure fifa clears yellow cards in next stages and in final (see world cup).

in CL and EL pending cards seem to be cleared only after a qualifier stage ends and the real season begins.
players with first 3 yellow then every 2nd yellow (3rd, 5th, 7th, ..) will be suspended. i still don't see why a red card will clear yellow card counts.

Ramos and Alonso they had 1 yellow before the game.

Then they got 1 yellow in the game it means every had 2 yellows.

Mou knew that a 3rd yellow in Next game will take them out or a Yellow in the next round will take them out.

So he send them to look 2nd yellow in the game.

The point is not about how many yellows reds etc they had, The point is they got themselves sent off on purpose which is CHEATING. The club should be thrown out of the competition and I think will be. Fifa have come in for a lot of criticism ever since Thierry Henry cheated the Republic of Ireland out of the World cup last year. Ever since that FIFA know they must come down heavy on Cheating in the game
