so let me get this straight...there is a man on first when werth comes up to bat. Have to assume there runner on first has a short lead, lets say 3 ft. This means the distance to 2nd base is now around 87 ft. Rolen is playing some what deep. The ball is hit and is a short chopper. With all his momentum not going towards 2nd, Rolen decides to go to 2nd???? Werth who is a right handed hitter has more than 90 ft to make it towards 1st. Both runners are not world class runners and probably have avg speed.

So Rolen decides to forget fundamental baseball and throw against his body to 2nd. Werth was a better decision based on a number of factors to be thrown out at 1st.

I have no interest in the outcome, in fact I am a Stl Card fan. Anyway, if they want that kind of play at 3rd base my 12yr cat is do that...
