Jnick, do you really think Mac Brown is going to show what Gilbert or the offense is going to do? Def. not. They always wait until conference play. Usually they play Tech later in the season so it's kind of hard to gauge right now. I mean, you saw how good he was throwing the ball the against Alabama in the 2nd half of the championship game. He can def. throw the ball around. All they've been doing so far this season is just power running and protecting the ball while playing solid defense. I'm just not sure that tech can hang with the offense of Texas if they start throwing the ball around. Like i said, i see this game going in so many different directions. Also, how can you say their defense is hasn't been good? They've barely even been trying.... They have pretty much everyone from last year who were playing in the championship game. Their defense finished in the top 5 last year.... Like i said, Mac Brown always waits until conference play to start opening things up. I'm not saying texas is going to win. I see all kinds of scenarios happening. What the advantage for tech? Paco, why do you like tech so much? is it because of the home field advantage? Cuz that is one scary ass place for anyone to play. One key thing i do like about tech is that only 17% of the bets have been wagered on Tech and the line has mainly stayed @ 3. You'd think with that many people betting Texas, the line would have moved by now. I think this is one of the games i'll roll up a fatty and wear my longhorns jersey in which i go small on and tail the SCS since i've been riding and dying with it. That way no matter what, i'll still be a winner. Tech wins, i get money... If the Horns win, then one of the last tests will be oklahoma in another back 2 back championship run!

I know he can throw the ball and he did do pretty good against ALA later in the game, like i said i think he will be good but he hasnt looked that good thus far into the season. Im sure you are right they are not opening up the playbook but im not so sure that makes a difference. Theyve ran the same offense since Mac has been there, and there is only so many plays they can run im sure they ran so many plays it doesnt matter.

Also, i never said their D doesn't look good, it usually always does. I just said that i think that TT will score on them. They've had problems with them in the past and i don't think 35 is out of the question for TT.

I'll probably put some coin on TT because of how strongly Paco feels about it, but I agree with Investor. Neither of these teams has been super-impressive so far. My biggest bet of the early season was on Texas -21 against Rice. I felt that was as close to a gimme as you could get. Yes, Texas was trying to establish a new running offense and they tried to show that with 1st and goal at the Rice 4 yard line. 4 plays they ran -- against a Rice D that was abysmal last year -- and they couldn't punch it in. Went with the same running back -- tit on tit -- as though saying you know what's coming and we know what's coming but you can't stop us. And Rice did. Rice! Later their running back said he had a sore ankle but didn't tell anyone cause he didn't want to come out. And Investor was right. Texas D was solid. Rice's two TDs were flukes. First one came with 4 seconds left in the first half. Ball bounced of the Rice receiver and two Texas D backs and into the hands of another Rice receiver who was really dragged down at the half yard line but the refs gave it to them. Last one came when Texas punt returner muffed the catch and Rice got the ball in the red zone; punched it in against Horn second stringers.

And TT did not look that great at home against SMU. Had a pretty decent lead but SMU -- which is a much better team under June Jones -- gave them a scare at the end, came within 8. TT did not beat the spread.

Anyway, I will put some coin on this based on Paco's SCS certainty and wish everyone the BOL.

Went to school there. Honestly it was prob. one of the best decisions i made. Plus, look at the next texas home game and look and see how many hot girls are in the stands. It's fvcking ridiculous... and most of em are all down to earth and just real friendly. Not like most of the girls out here in LA....

Also, playboy ranked Austin one of the top party cities and colleges. ... and another big survey gave it one of the best places for singles. Def. can't go wrong with that...

I know what you mean tho Jnick... My friends would always say the same thing when they came out there to visit, but they'd always leave wanting to come back. It's tight there, but LA is def. my home. Sometimes it's good to just get away and see things from a different perspective.

when your done with that get the book called "lay the favorite" a memoir of gambling by beth raymer. It's like a female version of Holden Caulfield from the Catcher in the Rye. This lady starts off as a cocktail waitress and then just works her way through vegas with gambling and all kinds of crazy stories. It's not all true but some of it is. Book just came out and it's got great great reviews from everyone who has read it. I just started a few days ago but it really is that good. Prob. the only reason why most haven't heard about it is because it just came out a few months ago.

I got that book too. It's on my pile to get to after I finish Personal Foul and Conquering Risk. What I'm looking forward to is inside info on how the offshore sites work. From what I understand she was talked into leaving Vegas and going down to the islands to work. Evidently some real wild west stuff going on there. The same places we're trusting with all our cash.

Can sombody tell me a god Book that teachs the basics of sports bets.

I only found "Sharp Sports Betting" at Amazon ...

Best place that I recommend to you all is The Gambler's Book Club in Las Vegas. Their website is www.gamblersbook.com. You can browse through their sports betting section or any other gambling areas that interest you. One book I got was "The Complete Guide to Football Betting" by Jim Feist and Kelso Sturgeon, but it's somewhat dated. Written in '97. Best thing to do is get the phone number from the site and call the store. Tell them what you're looking for. They have experts in each field who can tell you the best books to buy. I'm confident they can recommend the right books to get you started. The store's owner Howard Schwarz is a legendary character in Vegas.

It's a good book Dume... But i'm only on page 74. From what i read in the reviews before i bought the book, they were saying although it's a memoir, not all of it is accurate so i'm not that sure about when she bounces to go set up offshore. What i can tell you is that the stories are good, and it's really descriptive so you can really visualize everything that's going on. Plus you can kind of relate to it so it gets even harder to put down.
