    Not the oldest roster

    Phillies are easily the oldest.

    Boston is 5th.

while they have a bunch of old guys like cameron, scutaro, lowell, etc

they have a bunch of young pitchers

        yeah my mistake

I don't know of anyone that has gone through and done average age of every lineup, so you're welcome to be the first.

what I would say is that boston and philly both have old lineups as well as old rosters. philly's lineup is almost all guys in their 30s

yeah Philly is older than you expect.... hard to believe that Utley AND howard are out of their 20's already.... but they have alot of guys that are 29,30,31.... which is right where they USED to say your prime was for baseball hitters.... I think Bill James may have proven that wrong though.... and its really like 27.... unless you are Barry Bonds, in which case 41 is your prime

it has always been my opinion that the athletic prime is earlier than people have claimed.

People often talk about prime as being 27-31, which is ridiculous.

In terms of pure athleticism, you're on the decline at 30 and even at 29. I'd estimate the prime years to be 25-28.

Now if the sport involves less pure athleticism (like batting in baseball, or non-sports like racing), obviously your peak can be different and also longer.
