    Fantasy Baseball discussion?
I play three big leagues per season----my favorite is Fanball's Salary cap game.

Always looking for sleepers.....that is usually what brings you into the cash in those big league games.

Anyway, anyone catch Aroldis Chapman yesterday?

For those of you who dont know who he is---he is a cuban defector--somehow signed by Cincinnati. 30 mill over 5 years.....they may have the biggest steal in baseball.

Chapman hit 100 mph a few times yesterday with little effort.

He is going to be lights out. To bad he plays in that sandbox of a stadium in Cincy.

Any other sleepers you Fantasy guys are looking at?

Didnt see him toss, but I been reading everywhere how good he looked. Hard to tell when hes facing a minor league Royals lineup though. Pablo Sandavol was a solid sleeper I cashed in on last year. Havent really done too much of my research yet ... have my draft on the 20th.

Few good hitting sleepers for you. Garret Jones 1B, Rajai Davis CF, Randy Ruiz DH. Not gonna name the obvious ones which you probably already know. Good luck this season.

I love my fantasy baseball draft.

I never get who I want, but it is always fun.

Auctions are the best way to put together a fantasy team.

If Joe Nathan ends up being out for the year, whoever replaces him, most likely Jon Rauch or Matt Guerrier, could be a good option for some saves. Twins should still be good and closers tend to be overrated. You could get either of those two, or whoever ends up being the closer for that matter, late and/or cheap.

I would actually avoid those two. Problem is that everyone else is thinking the same thing since people usually have a cheat sheet listing likely closers for each team. Sure if you can get these guys with your last pick or a $1 at the auction, it is a worthwhile risk. But people tend to overpay for "closers" with mediocre skills and the title and history has shown that roles change quickly and even a moderate investment is likely to be a risky proposition.

Another consideration would be to roster them both but if you have a short bench and/or a shallow league, I'd rather devote that roster spot to speculate on a breakout starter or hitter instead of a 50% chance of a mediocre closer that could lose the job tomorrow.

If the league is sufficiently deep, I prefer to go for 2nd in line setup men with excellent top notch skills so even if they don't get the closer role, they provide support in ERA, WHIP and K's. Rafael Soriano last year is the perfect example and this year, my pick would be Daniel Bard. If anything happens to Pap, Bard immediately becomes a top closer. Even if nothing happens to Pap, Bard will most likely deliver a superb ERA/WHIP and more K's than most mediocre starters. Best of all, he will fly completely under the radar since the perception is that he doesn't have a chance at saves.

I usually hold off on closers during the draft and pick them up throughout the season as the injuries start setting in and teams need to replace their original closers. It's been a very effective strategy for me thus far.
