    Nathan possibly out for year........
Just heard Joe Nathan has a tear in his elbow and will try to pitch through it but is most likely done for the season. Twins are favorites in the Central. How damaging is this? WSox +210, Tigers +400?

What a shame, really like Nathan and the Twins, love to root for 'the little guys.' I think it benefits the Tigers more than the ChiSox. Already was picking Chicago to win the ALC, now it opens the door for Detroit to finish second over Minnesota, that is if Nathan is really going to miss the entire season.

shame to hear this, easily one of the most consistent closers in the game. the only closer i'd put over him currently in the MLB is the Great Mo Rivera

I heard that he's going to try and throw again in a week or so. I'm hoping that he doesn't feel any pain. Could be a big loss for them, the guy has been lights out since he went over from the Giants.

I have to imagine, that if he's done, they'll seek out someone else in a trade. Jon Rauch wouldn't have my confidence...

This is really going to hurt them. They can't still be the favorite without him.

Closer is the most overrated part of the team. If Todd Jones and Antonio Alfonseca can lead their leagues in saves anyone can be an effective closer. The Twins have a history of putting guys in the role that had no experience in the role that have flourished. There were major questions about Nathan before he won the job in 2004, Eddie Guardado had pitched in every other role except for closer and he made two All-Star teams as a closer, and Rick Aguilera who is probably the best closer in team history was an also ran with the Mets and his first year with the Twins before he became the closer. Look for Jon Rauch or Matt Guerrier to step up and do a fine job as closer this year if Nathan doesn't come back.
