If I was going to build my 'all-time outfield' based on performance alone from my lifetime, it would be Carl Yastrzemski in left, Roberto Clemente in right and Willie Mays in center. But my 'cool outfield' would be much different.

LEFT: Jose Cruuuuuuuuuuuz. If you ever get the chance to meet this guy in person and talk to him as I did, do not talk about baseball. Instead, ask him about classic cars and how his old t-birds are doing.

CENTER: Richie Ashburn. If Harry Kalas thought Whitey was cool, then that's cool enough with me.

RIGHT: Ichiro Suzuki. The guy just strikes me as ultracool, plays the game the old-fashioned way, equally great offensive and defensive player.

Rickey called San Diego GM Kevin Towers and left the following message: “This is Rickey calling on behalf of Rickey. Rickey wants to play baseball.”

A reporter asked Henderson if Ken Caminiti’s estimate that 50 percent of Major League players were taking steroids was accurate. His response was, “Well, Rickey’s not one of them, so that’s 49 percent right there.”

I second coanwe's pick, Andy Van Slyke was the man

My aunt's an artist and when I was a kid painted a potrait of him, well when I brought it to him during an autograph session at Three Rivers, he was speechless and wrote Best Wishes, Andy Van Slyke #18 and kept telling me to thank my aunt for such a nice potrait, pretty cool scene for a 12 year old.

Big Dave Winfield. End of Story. The coolest of cool. Graced the outfield like a butterfly, but ran out grounders like a spiked bowling ball. Looked great in the field and in uniform. Griffey would be a close second.

Dont know if you heard this one but its a true story. Dont remember what year it was but during the year Rickey received a million dollar bonus from the A's and at the end of the year when the A's front office had to do their taxes they kept up coming with a million dollars long. And come to find out Rickey had the millon dollar check framed because it "looked cool hanging above Rickeys fireplace"

You had the eye black with this guy, he even had the sunglasses that you had to flick down he was a one cool cat.. The dude was hurt alot yes I know. But when healthy the guy produced. Did you see this guy bat? He hands were so fast that he could hold the bat down at his waist and bring them up to hit as the pitcher delivered the ball. He even came back and played well after beating cancer.
