    Clemens suspended
Torre even got a game suspension

Clemens suspended for throwing at Toronto's Rios

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens has been suspended for five games for intentionally throwing the ball at Alex Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays, Major League Baseball (MLB) said on Thursday.

Clemens was also fined an undisclosed amount for the incident which occurred in the seventh inning at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Tuesday.

Four innings earlier, Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was hit in the leg by a pitch from Josh Towers. Both benches emptied but no punches were thrown.

Clemens and New York manager Joe Torre were ejected by home plate umpire Angel Hernandez after the seventh-inning incident.

Torre was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount, said MLB's vice president of on-field operations Bob Watson.

The Yankees manager will serve his ban on Friday when his team visit the Cleveland Indians.

Rodriguez and New York coaches Larry Bowa and Tony Pena and Toronto's Towers, Matt Stairs and coach Brian Butterfield also received undisclosed fines.

Means nothing to a pitcher. They will bump his fat, overpaid ass back a day.

Ridiculous. Doesn't really affect anything, hell, Clemens will be better on extra rest, but how the Jays escape with no punishment other than meaningless fines is incredible, considering everyone in the baseball world knew this exact scenario or something very similar would play out.

Yeah, no one dislikes the Yankees, particularly A-Rod, more than me, but Towers and Gibbons not being disciplined is absurd. Litsch throwing at A-Rod was expected, but once he failed to hit him it should have been over with. Towers throwing at him the next night was uncalled for. After that, it was only a matter of time before the Yanks retaliated.

I agree, it was blatantly obvious that Toronto was the aggressor in this situation.

To be honest I would not hand out any suspensions at this point in time concerning these two teams, but if Toronto does something outside the ordinary next time they meet then hefty punishment should be handed down.

Weren't they going back at A-Rod for yelling at someone when a pop up was hit?

No excuse but look at how heated people get at SBR and we are not being paid to post here.
