SBR's Dustin Saracini shares his best No Run First Inning (NRFI) bets for Monday, July 7th (40-28, +6.07 YTD):
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Milwaukee Brewers (-125 at FanDuel)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2.51 ERA) vs. Freddy Peralta (2.91 ERA)
NRFI record: Dodgers (39-52) vs. Brewers (50-40)
"Yup, we are riding with two of the best pitchers in baseball as part of our best NRFI bets today - shocking, right?
While nobody on the Brewers has seen Yamamoto (which should work out in out favor), the same can't be said for Peralta, who's limited the Dodgers to a .248 xBA across 107 Dodger plate appearances against him. Most notably is Freddie Freeman, who's in a slump of his own right now. He's a career 5-for-21 against Peralta, while the red-hot Will Smith is 1-for-7. We're going to roll the dice here with the right-hander to get us three outs."
Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels (-145 at DraftKings)
Jacob deGrom (2.13 ERA) vs. Yusei Kikuchi (2.81 ERA)
NRFI record: Rangers (54-36) vs. Angels (40-49)
"We've got some great pitching matchups on the MLB slate tonight, and Rangers-Angels is no exception. deGrom, who leads the AL Comeback Player of the Year odds, has been absolutely lights-out this season. Beyond his 2.13 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, a start on April 11 was the last time deGrom allowed more than two runs, and he's fired four shutouts since that day. Not bad if you ask me.
Kikuchi will bring this play home. He's seen these Rangers a ton, and the numbers suggest we'll get a clean three outs. The top three for Texas is just 11-for-53 against the lefty, which includes the potent bat of Corey Seager, who's hitting just .231. We're riding Kikuchi as part of our best NRFI bets today - let's sweep the slate one more time."
