1-2 Thursday.
2* Yankees Team Total O 6 -105: The Yankees are averaging 6.5 runs/game, while hitting .300 as a team, at home this season. Over their last ten games at Yankee Stadium, NY's averaging 10.5 runs/game. During that span, they've been held under 6 runs only once, against Roy Halladay and the Jays. Odalis Perez is no Halladay. Perez pitched relatively well against NY ten days ago (7 IP, 4 R), and the Yanks still managed to put 9 runs on the board in the game.
1* Red Sox/Mariners U 9.5 -110: Horacio Ramirez has pitched extremely well at Safeco (6-0, 2.63), while Boston's offense is far less effective away from Fenway (.293 @ home, .258 on the road). Jon Lester's been adequate in his first two starts, throwing strikes and keeping walks to a minimum. If he continues to get the ball over, I think a 6-inning, 3 R type performance is likely. This is a matchup of two of the better bullpen's in the AL, so a late inning meltdown from either side appears unlikely . All in all, I expect a competitive, fairly low-scoring game.
1* Giants/Padres U 8 -120: Matt Cain's been roughed up a bit the last month or so against the likes of the Braves, Cubs and Yankees, but SD's offense, despite exploding for 11 runs Thursday against the D'Backs, doesn't pose the same kind of threat, particularly at Petco. Cain's been stellar in his career against the Padres (3-2, 2.01 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, .153 BAA), while Maddux has been solid at home this year. These two dueled to a 4-2 score at AT&T in late June, and I expect more of the same tomorrow night.
1* Tigers -130: Detroit destroys lefties, and Guillen (12/36), Monroe (12/30), Ordonez (9/16), Polanco (8/19) and Granderson (5/10) have all had success off Buehrle. Andrew Miller had his worst big-league outing against the ChiSox, when he really struggled to throw strikes, but he's been good more often than not in his brief career. If he can get the ball over, he's about as tough as any lefty in the AL. Without any discernible pitching advantage on either side, I like Detroit at this relatively cheap price at home against the woeful ChiSox.
