Right now the Yankees are 9 games back in the division and 8 games back out of the wild card. If they have any shot of making there push this year, I don't feel they will make there run till the first week of August.
When do you think the Yankees will make there run?

#4in 2008, maybe later!
Anyone that expects the Yankees to make the playoffs this year is obviously biased. Sure they may close the gap some, but they are simply not as good as Boston, Detroit or Cleveland this year, unless they could pick up a stud pitcher (or TWO!) before the trading deadline.Comment -

#7Not so fast guys, baseball is a funny game. No team is immune from injuries. Cleveland doesn't have the strongest staff, they could stumble. If Yankee pitching comes together, that includes P.Huges coming back and pitching well, they might have a shot.Comment -

#10It seems in recent years every time the Yanks are down everybody wants to write them off,and amazingly they turn it around when they need to.I for one am not going to abandon the ship and will not until they mathmatically have no shot.Who knows who will do their Bucky Dent impersonation this year.

The answer, if it's going to happen and I'm not sure that it is, is right now. They're playing a bunch of sub .500 teams right now for like the next 25-30 games. (Of course, the Yankees are only a game over .500 themselves).
If they haven't made signifiant inroads into their deficits in the division &/or wild card when they finish this stretch against sub .500 teams, I don't think it will happen.

LT,I am not bias,I just like the Yankees, but I just think this is the worst pitching staff the Yankees have had since Torre took over 11 years ago, and teams can't just slug their way back into contention without being able to hold down opposing teams.

#15They either do it in these first 29 games of the second half against bad/mediocre teams or they don't at all.
The Yankees are better than the Indians and will pass them. I'm just not sure they can ever pass the Mariners/Angels division loser. Like I say, they almost have to start 22-7 or better against these sub-.500 teams or they can't mortgage the future. And frankly, there isn't a weakness on the team on paper other than long relief and first base. The rotation is among the best in baseball once PH comes back, the closer is the best in history, the late inning relief is above average, and the lineup is top three in baseball.
What's a feasible trade that improves the Yankees' starters? Unless Pittsburgh wants to get rid of Snell or Gorzo, I don't see a trade that improves the starting rotation. And what are they going to do, move Moose to the bullpen? I think playing these inferior teams will tell the tale for the rest of the season. If they win only 50 or 55%, stay pat and wait for next year. If they get hot, make a trade for a first baseman like Helton or Sweeney. When Hughes comes back, move Igawa to long relief (where he's already shown some effectiveness), and a starting five of Wang, Clemens, Hughes, Pettite, Mussina should get the wild card.Comment -

#1678 they were 14.5 out in july, came back and won.Why can't history repeat itself? Why talk about wildcard when the yanks can just win the division and take all the guesswork out of it?Boston still has a good chance of catching chokeitisComment -

#17I don't see a run happening at all. In their next 24 games, against the weak teams, I predict they'll play .500. They may do a bit better than that, but some kind of 20-4 "run", to put them in better shape, I think is quite unlikely. We'll see. I say 12-12.Comment
