    Yanks/Giants Friday
I rarely bet on NYY as they're almost always overpriced, but I think there's some value with them tomorrow night. At first glance, Igawa/Cain seems like a mismatch, but Igawa appears to have straightened himself out in the minors. In his four starts since being demoted, he's posted a 2.88 ERA, while allowing 23 H in 25 IP and striking out 27. I realize those numbers are against minor-leaguers, but I think he's in a good position to throw a good game against the Giants, who aren't hitting at all right now. As good as Cain has been for most of the season, he isn't getting any run support and SF is just 2-12 in his starts. There's no doubt he will one day be a #1 starter, but he's still young and inexperienced and, like most young pitcher's, often has control problems.

I like the Yankees quite a bit tomorrow. Any thoughts on this game??

I am actually leaning toward the Giants in this one.

The Giants have 16 runs in the last 4 games, so I wouldn't say they are not hitting. But they have lost 7 in a row. Not the best team out there, but I see some value with Cain and the Giants.

I'm getting tired of getting burnt buy Cain every time he tows the rubber. So I think I'll just pass on this game.

Yes I tentatively like the Yanks myself. Igawa is in a good position to do well, and SF is a good team to start off his comeback against. Cain makes the Yanks' line low.

By the way, can you believe these Yank lines?? Against Colorado they're all in the -170s and wherever, and now here, against SF, they're in the -110s?? Sure Cain is good, but SF has only won 2 of his 14 starts! If there were a series where I could understand the Yanks as a substantial road favorite every game, this would be it.

What do you think the line will be for Wang/Morris?? At this point I have no idea what the Yankee lines will be when they come out. But so far, I (and a lot of other people on here) are doing great with these wacky Yankee lines. I predict they will open the Wang/Morris game at Yanks, let me see, I'll predict -133.

Anyway, yes I think the Yanks will be a decent bet here, but I'm going to wait to see the lineups and movement. I'll probably put some of it on the RL. Cain might run up a high pitch count and exit early.

They'll need a deep start by Cain to win this one, and of course that is a very real possibility. But the Yanks have got to be a bit foul after the Colorado sweep, and SF is a losing team, they will not challenge a team like the Yankees looking to make up some ground.

Make up a shirt that reads:

I say it has to be at least -150. Wang's last seven starts have been very, very good, and his last three starts have been Cy Young-caliber. Morris's opposition has been incredibly weak this year (Only two of his 14 starts have come against the top 12 offenses in MLB. Seven of Wang's 11 starts have come against the top 10 offenses in MLB.), and I think his last start (4 IP, 8 ER) will be reflected very much in this line.

              Strange game tonight.
On one side we have perhaps the best lineup in baseball, albeit one which has struggled in the NL stadiums, with a #5 or 6 starter who has been up and down (mostly down) but supposedly has figured out some things and a strong bullpen. On the other side we have one of the best pitchers in baseball whose team either doesn't score or doesn't hold the lead when he starts and a terrible offensive and shaky bullpen.

Geez, Wang -170? Seems a bit of an overreaction. 155 or 160 I could see, but that is a really high price tomorrow.
