I work with overall numbers, I am a "full body of work" kind of guy. Many considered this an off year for Cole, yet he still finished 3rd best in the majors with a 2.93 xFIP and he had a whopping 12.06 Ks/9. And I think Eovaldi overachieved a bit this year, he is just decent and nothing special.

Right on. Statistics like that are fairly meaningless because of the small sample size and different players who have worn the Red Sox uniform over the years Cole has pitched against them. Just by randomness, chance ,and distribution, a player is likely to have bad, good, and average numbers across different ballparks. Little correlation and I wouldn't place too much of an emphasis on it.

I think Cards are worst team in the playoffs, they were among the luckiest teams in baseball this year. I don't mean "luckiest" in the opinion sense, I mean in the mathematical sense (expected wins vs. actual wins). I have NONE of their starting pitchers ranked above average and their other underlying metrics are just not that good.
