That is a tough question since WAR is such a catch-all number that it is hard to tell which component is dragging it down. With just a quick eyeball test, his FIP (3.59) and xFIP (3.46) are both higher than his 2.76 ERA, and he has been lucky with a .233 BABIP (league average around .290) and 86.8% strand rate (league average around 70%).
