Kirby Zhang's Moneyline & Investments. Write-ups and picks for Tuesday August 25
    Tuesday Fresh Starts
With the foul smell of the weekend far behind us, and a miracle pulled on Monday's late night game to make the day a winning day, I'll once again do my best to come back at the books so we can make our way in the right direction financially. Monday was full of drama, and although I didn't officially post my plays on a new thread, my followers know whats up, and yes, they know we made money. Tuesday is another start, and another chance at fact, reasoning, predicting this beautiful thing we call sports.

Haren, and Arizona to Blank Heartbroken Giants

              Arizona @ San Fransisco
              The Pick: Arizona +130

Someone call the freaking police, because I don't know if you saw the Giants/Colorado game last night, even the highlights, but there was a mother-effing robbery in Colorado! Please... ::Raises Palm:: don't tell me I got lucky. Tell me I used my brain. Look, sometimes in sports there are actual miracles, The Music City Miracle...Unpredictable... things that are inconceivable, and then there are predicted events such as last night, which I guess you call "upsets" but I had Colorado as the better team anyway, so I guess we can't categorize it as that. How? and Why? Ask yourself, what does the picture of a tired and exasperated team look like? That's right, they look like the Giants. Solid pitching, no offense, and the inability to close games, that's San Fransisco... how homosexual, (pun intended). San Fransisco has exhausted everyone they have in their bullpen, they've successfully shut down other team's offense, but haven't answered afterward. It's kind of like having the tools to change a car tire, you change and take the tire off successfully, but you don't have the new tire, or even a donut to put back on. What's the point? Here is why I like Arizona to win it tomorrow. Arizona got to rest today. San Fransisco got their heart broken in the 14th inning of a 4 hour and 57 minute game... and then got on a plane and went home.... Can you say these guys won't feel worse than you did the morning after your 21st birthday? yeah, save me the story okay? I know it already.... You know why San Fransisco lost that game? it's because they had nobody else on the rotation. everyone was worn out, everyone was exhausted, hell, they had Tim Lincecum running bases... They are beat, and it shows.. The team feels like it just can't win, no matter what they do, you know sometimes when you place a bet, and your losing and your hoping, praying that maybe a little push from your team, and you'll win the bet, and then in the fourth quarter, or the bottom of the ninth something looks like it's going to happen... and then... BAM!!! nothing.. yeah, that's how the Giants feel. Defeated... Anyway, this isn't about San Fransisco's loss last night, it's about there loss later tonight. With that said, last time Matt Cain stepped up to the mound he did it against Cincinnati, he did his job, Matt allowed one run in eight innings of a 2-1, 10-inning loss at Cincinnati on Thursday, they must be making a career of extra ending drama inning in heartbreak, but that's the story of the week for the Giants; No Offense... That's right, so put this into perspective. If the Giants didn't have offensive power that day, when the day before they beat the Reds in a 1-0 pitcher's duel with Zito, what makes you think their going to have any offensive power tomorrow, coming of a 5 hour 14 inning heartbreak in another city in which after the game they had to fly 3 hours home... Besides these statistics Arizona already looks like a pretty good contestant to take out the Giants. Matt Cain is 0-2 in his last five starts since winning at Colorado on July 24, he has a 2.97 ERA during that span. The right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.39 ERA in 12 games against the Diamondbacks, including 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in two this year. the Giants have mostly been held in check against Haren (12-8, 2.74 ERA), who's 2-1 with a 1.33 ERA in his last four starts against San Francisco. He allowed one run in six innings of a 2-0 loss at San Francisco on April 17, and is 6-5 with a 3.04 ERA in 13 career starts versus the NL West rival. Haren, though, is 2-2 with a 5.88 ERA overall this month, I say his stats increase as he looks to take advantage of a distraught San Fransisco team, kinda like the way frat guys take advantage of sorority girls, telling them that drinking 8 shots of straight vodka makes you feel cool...by the way... suck it. With Haren on the mound tomorrow Arizona becomes a balanced team, good pitching, decent hitting. Look for the Diamondbacks to blank the Giants. **** the 1.5, take the line, get the value, and think of me at the bank while you flirt with the Bank of America whore.

Marlins to Take Control of Injured Mets, A Fishy Situation

                    New York Mets @ Florida
                    The Pick: Florida -191

I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the New York Mets team got put on the DL while on the way to Florida! Wow, what a slew of bad luck for them, and then to be embarrassed like that at home by Philadelphia, it's just plane out sad. The Mets fans... and let me just clarify something.. there are no Met's fans, there are Yankees fans, but since the Yanks didn't play today there was nothing else to do in New York but eat pizza, hit on girl on the train, and yeah.. go to Queens and watch the Phillies dominate. Anyway, tomorrow they'll be in Florida trying to take on the Marlins. I think the Mets wanted to make obvious that they were hoping to lose this series, I think they hinted at it when instead of starting Santana they decided nah, we'll just put this nobody guy up there against one of the best hitting teams in the NL..."good luck bro!". Ha! this is not going to be the best way to start a road series. Nelson Figueroa (1-2, 6.30 ERA) does not have good numbers, and against hitters like Rameriz, he's going to have some problems. The right-hander hasn't fared well in two starts this season, losing both while giving up nine runs and 15 hits in 7 2/3 innings. He's 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA in four games -- all in relief -- against Florida... I don't know about what you think, but If I was the Mets, I wouldn't be too relieved from those relief appearances? okay.. so you couldn't handle a few back innings, maybe you'll do a lot better with an entire game? Do your best on the first five.. uhh... is Jerry Manuel taking retarded pills? WTF!? You know, Florida really had some problems against Atlanta, but I think they're going to do their best to make up for all the mistakes, not only did they have an impressive series against Houston at home, but it seems their hitters are more active in Florida. If there was ever a more important time to take advantage of weak teams, and climb your way toward the top, it would be now. The Marlins will give the ball to rookie Sean West (4-5, 4.70), who is looking to rebound from Wednesday's 6-3 loss at Houston, where he allowed four runs in four innings. The 23-year-old left-hander was impressive against the Mets on May 29, yielding one run in seven innings of a 2-1, 11-inning defeat. Look for Florida to take control early on against the Mets, the only way they shut the Marlins down is with solid defense, if they can hold them to less than 2 runs they'll actually have a chance, but I say the Marlins put up 6 at least. In case you don't know I"m hinting the over, even though it didn't make my plays.

"Houston We Have A Problem; Adam Wainwright"

                        Houston @ St. Louis - Over 7 -115
Houston @ St. Louis - St. Louis -170

Houston isn't a bad team, but none the less their record will show they are struggling, and have no postseason possibilities. Houston goes to St. Louis tomorrow, I'm sure St. Louis is a lovely place to go, and just chill for the weekend... But two things, 1) tomorrow is not a weekend, 2) Houston is 3-9 on thr road on their last 12 games, and 1-7 in their last seven against St. Louis. So, if I was in Houston I'd be like "Fuuuuck that, I wanna go back to Houston". This opener is going to be symbolic of how the series is going to go. Houston has recently had trouble hitting, and they're going to see those problems magnified when playing Wainwright tomorrow. Adam is Solid, especially being at home. Adam Wainwright (14-7, 2.61 ERA) has pitched very well in St. Louis this season, posting a 2.02 ERA in 14 starts, The right-hander yielded two runs and four hits over seven innings of a 3-2 loss at Los Angeles on Wednesday. He did not allow a hit until the sixth inning, but didn't receive the decision after giving up two homers in the seventh. Wainwright, going for his career-high 15th win, is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts against Houston this year. He lost 2-0 to the visiting Astros on Aug. 2, falling to 6-1 with a 2.17 ERA versus Houston after giving up two runs over seven innings. I say Wainwright overcomes his struggles and puts Houston to shame. I don't know anyone else does their research, but as human beings we are programed to look for facts that support our theories, I, on the other hand when researching, look for facts that would prove me wrong, If I find more suggestive data then I guess I might be right. This is basically the scientific method. let's consider what the dats shows shall we?

                        • Houston is 3-9 SU in its last 12 games on the road
                        • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Houston's last 7 games on the road
                        • Houston is 1-7 SU in its last 8 games when playing on the road against St. Louis
                        • St. Louis is 9-2 SU in its last 11 games
                        • St. Louis is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home
                        • St. Louis is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games when playing at home against Houston

Look for St. Louis to take care of business, tomorrow. The Totals are always set so low for Wainwright, but I say Wandy has a bad game tomorrow and crumbles to the pressures of this great Cardinals batting line-up. 6-2 St. Louis.

good job kirby, i like most all of them. except i can't bring myself to bet against a pitcher who has been struggling of late. haren has no doubt been one of the best pitchers this year but lately his has not been himself. on the road in san fran, who is money at home, especially with cain on the hill. i think there are much better wagers out there today. cain has been dominate at home, unless you see the giants losing 2-1 i dont think they are going to lose. if you really think that haren is going to deal on the gaints then the under is the pick here. cain will bring his A game.

and yes that is a very good probability

I just hope giants-backers are not succumbing to the Win-Due-Here-Besides-Theyre-At-Home Line of reasoning.

I hope you have OTHER strong reasons to go with the Giants besides that rationale.
