    Thoughts on NYM-WSH matchup
Kind of a weird game here. Wilmer Font, who is filling in for injured Steve Matz, gets the draw against Patrick Corbin & the Nats for his 2nd spot start. The Mets rotation had gained an extra day off with the rain out in Miami but they have decided not to move Zack Wheeler up on regular rest & skip Font’s last spot start before Matz comes back. The guy has a career 6.4 ERA, is a converted reliever & the team is riding a 3 game win streak currently so this move is baffling honestly. Nats offense has been struggling. They are 2nd in NL in strikeouts and have been facing some stiff pitching competition this entire month. A matchup against a subpar pitcher like Font who doesn’t strike anybody out could be the spark they need to revive their offense & get back on track in the standings. This team is too talented to be playing this bad.

Font will go 5 innings max or around 75 pitches & then Rob Gsellman should takeover. He picked up Font in his last start after he went 4 innings. Nats have killed Gsellman the past couple of seasons though. What are Mets thinking? Such a weird managerial move bruh

I’m waiting for a team total to come out because I don’t fully trust Corby against this Mets team which has solid numbers against him. He’s been out of whack recently & walking more guys then ever so the over in the game is a possibility as well.

Chime in fellas if you have any thoughts to share

Damn the WSH team total is at 4.5 -105. Was hoping for 4. I like those even numbers no hooky for me dawg

Over 8 might be the play. Font should get smacked around a bit but could survive maybe 3 or 4 runs in 5 innings. Gsellman would go at least 1 inning if not 2. He’s def gonna get hit if he sees the middle of the order. On the other side, even if Corby has a good start that bridge to the closer has been a shaky spot for Nats.

Still gonna dig in a bit

NL east is tough & the race for the 2 wildcard spots is gonna be tight. This is the type of managerial decision Mickey Callaway will look back on at the end of the year and wonder why he gave a game away to a division rival
