Sheesh, this be the 4th time already this season hellickson has faced the nats, 2nd time he doing so in b2b starts!!
I like hell boy as I'm a fan of guys with not the greatest stuff who know how to pitch and out perform their peripherals (mostly cause that equals good prices!) but how many times can he keep one of the best offenses down?
1st game 5 inn only 1 hit and 1 walk, pulled after 78 pitches so could have went longer. In philly.
Next game was his next start in Washington. 7ip only 4 hits and a walk, gave up a 2 run dinger. Efficient again only at 98 pitches when pulled.
Then last week start number 3 vs nats in philly they seemed to have figured him out. Took bunch of walks, gave up a couple bombs, and he was pulled before completing 5 and was already at 98 pitches..
As I mentioned I always been a fan of hell boy but when you not working w electric stuff and having to continually face a very good hitting team it only a matter of time. Is it conceivable he makes adjustments from last outing and has a better performance? Of course it possible but I tend to think this just been too much exposure to one of best hitting teams in the league.
Gio has great numbers vs this phils lineup but phils have been a very good lhp hitting team and getting another crack at him. Think they find a way to at least get his pitch count up which leads us to a couple pens that not exactly cream of the crop.. the play
Phils/nats ov 8.5 +105
