Not sure what's going on with the Cards - if it's just an early-season funk or what. I took them that night. They usually handle lefties OK, and CC is trash.

Some of it just early season funk. Some of it gonna be a issue all season.

Problem number 1 that will never correct itself till they fire him is matheny a freaking moron (sadly I think it gonna take years more of incompetence before this actually happens).

Problem 2 that isn't going away, their infield defense is atrocious. Magnifying the poor defense is they ain't exactly hitting to justify being put out there asked to field the ball.

The not hitting part will mainly fix itself I believe,, fowler pressing prob trying to live up to contract and simply isn't doing his job, not taking pitches or putting good ab's together. His track record says that won't last. Eventually Mo will tell matheny to stop playing peralta who without juice is just a pudgy waste of space. Carpenter will come around. Not too worried about the offense and suspect they put up a large number tonight.

The pen I think is a little of both slump and potentially a problem. They been a dumpster fire and of course matheny pretty much puts everyone is worst possible position to succeed. They have some arm talent in pen and more in minors, problem is matheny decides who he is buddy's with and that tends to win guys innings more than results!

Overall I think they a .500 type team and not much has changed that bout what they are I believe. Average team who got off to bad start.

I still don't feel safe knowing gonna need 3 innings out of the pen most likely.

Yea this 1st game I've backed him. He has def lost a few ticks. Still smart and knows how to pitch tho, after watching brewers yesterday I suspected he could have them off balance with his curve which still a weapon. Hopefully the pen can do their jobs cause he not getting past the 6th.
