#38Thursday:
TOR (-130) @ MIN
- In his career, Halladay has an ERA vs MIN of 2.92, a 7-0 record and has averaged just under 8 IP per start (9 GS) against the Twins. I can see the other side of the argument for Liriano, but I would have a hard time going against Roy in this game.
FLO @ ATL (-135)
- This is the first game in the series in which the Braves have had the edge on the mound. I expect them to capitalize on it and take this game before they head to PIT.

#41Kid form the Bronx and remembering the days of Mantle and Marris and the rest of the great crew. Home town fan? Absolutely! Emotional bet? Some. But these are the facts - CC isn't as bad as others are saying - overpriced perhaps, but still a very good pitcher and he needed some warm up time. Anyone ever been at Yankee stadium on opening day? I have been to several - the place rocks! And the new stadium? Well, I can still here the El in the background and the ghosts of the Babe and Joe D and the rest still linger in the tunnel when our boys walk through and onto that field for the opener. I'm taking them on the run-line. That my friends, seems like a bargain. BOL to all of us!Comment -

#45Cleveland is the play in the Bronx... Its tough for a team to come home after being on the road (alot of distractions)... The opening of Yankee Stadium would qualify as a major distraction. Yankees offense not exactly lighting it up (4 runs last game)...You think CLE is just gonna bop around and win one game here and there? Baseball is a game of streaks...this is a good spot to get two wins in a row... with big plus money..

how many guys on this Indians team have seen what he has to offer, from the position of batting though?
I mean I've watched CC alot, doesn't mean I can hit him. This will be the first time hitting against CC for about 90% of the lineup todayComment -

Hot bats are just that. Hot bats. The Indians havehad 20 hits in their last 2 games, and the Yankees (with the big payroll) have only had 15. Cliff Lee OWNS the Yankees too. 2 bad starts doesn't mean he's washed up. It just means that he is due for a correction. The real question is how are the Yankees supposed to start hitting Lee all of a sudden? It hasn't happened since 2004.

#53Bad reverse movement with the Braves so far. With 61% of bettors thinking they will avoid the sweep the line has gone down from an opening of -144 to -122 on some books.
The best line movement of the day is the Nats controlling the line with only 21% of bettors on their side, the line for the World Series Champs started at -136 and is down to -133 on some books
and
The Cardinals are also controlling the line as well with only 30% of bettors on their side, theline was offered initially at Cubs-118, and the line has gone in reverse to as low as -109 on some books, which is significant, and makes the Cardinals a wonderful play today. And why not? Their bats are hot as shit and the boppers in the middle of the lineup are underperforming. This movement is a little too hard for me to ignore, especially with a quality team like the Red Birdies. It is rar to find gameswhere both sides are for negative money, which means this game is a toss up. Give me the reigning NL MVP and the great supporting cast. So far I have basically 3 games I am wagering on. Might as well roll with Jimbo and take the

Hot bats go cold real fast.... how did Tampa Bay do the 2 games before almost getting no-hit by burnett, how did the A's hit the 2 games before almost getting no-hit by wakefield? Is that how you cap really?
it works both ways.
and i'm not sure what it matters how guys like sheffield, Giambi, Tino Martinez, Bernie Williams, Cairo, guel, phillips, crosby, abreu, ensberg did against Lee that last 5 years. tell me how today's pinstripes have fared against him, that is a bit more meaningful.
I'm an Indian fan, and I hope Lee can pull it together, but somthing is wrong with his delivery and his head. he is not able to duplicate his delivery and his arm slot is all fuked up. He hasn't been good since the beginning of sept. he tanked his last handful of starts, was the most hittable pitcher in spring training, and has sucked in two starts. I pray he pulls it together, but people need to look at what he is doing in his delivery this year, and not worrying about his stats from 4 or 5 years agoComment -

#64Home teams win at a higher % in any sport. And yes baseball is a team-sport just like basketball... but when LeBron is out do you think the cav's have a lower percentage winning at home? You can compare a perenial allstar like Chipper Jones on the same caliber as him.
Actually you know what, no I refute myself. Baseball deals more with individual play then other team sports. But nonetheless, the comparison between someone like LeBron and Chipper still hold valid.
And I used a rediculous home record team to prove my point.
So far shoebox you have used a well known and common knowledge statistic to refute me, show me some more statistics and I will shut up. Otherwise, quit being emotional.Comment -

#66Euphoria,
That was a VERY wrong thing to say and it may offend our Asiatic brothers on the thread. Baseball is just what it is. But comments like that are also just what they are...unnecessary. I would like to think that you aren't racist and were just being funny. One time i was in the Ice Creamery down by Lake Merrit some years ago. I saw an Asian man sitting at a table eating ice cream and sandwiches with his family. Then some idiot black guy walks in the door with his girlfriend. She passes the family and makes a remark about how cute the son of the family was. He boyfriend said "Leave them gooks alone and let them eat." No sooner did he say that than the father wipedhis mouth, jumped up out of his seat and without saying not ONE WORD grabbed the guy in a guillotine hold from behind and put all of his weight on old boy bouncing his face onto the ground in a crowded restaurant. He held the man there until he went to sleep. Then he paid the bill and left old boy for his woman to care for him. I never felt more proud of a head of a family protecting his pride.
Please don't do that againComment -

#69Look I'm not here to convince you one way or another but win your money which you will be crying over after this game. Its a shame you can't think abstractly, but then again thats why there are more losers than winners.
The point of the comparison for someone as senile as yourself was the essential component to the "team". It doesn't matter what sport you use, if I didn't know the difference between sports I wouldn't be here.
All that you have proven is that you are senile and ignorant. You still have not used any other supporting fact on your picks except your home team fact, which means you are dodging my question and taking shots at my integrity sir.Comment -
