Im glad I did play the Mariners. Jakubauskas is looking really good early. I think if he can get them into the 6th, then the bullpen will be able to outpitch the opposing bullpen

UNDERDAWG PLAY

WASHINGTON NATIONALS ML (+101)--
Nolasco has a rather nasty 7.36 ERA and comes into this one after giving up four runs on seven hits through five frames against the Metropolitans. He’s now given up nine runs in 11 innings on the young season, and faces a lineup of bats that caught fire last night.

Lannan will be out for revenge after losing his season debut to the Fish, and given this is his home debut for 2009, I’m betting he’ll put forth his best stuff thus far in three starts.

ATLANTA BRAVES (-105)--
Atlanta will be traveling to Pittburgh to get back on track in this game. They were embarassed in their last series, and I love to bet teams after losing a series at home. Pittsburgh has been scoring some runs, but I think Atlanta is definitely the better team here and will be more motivated in this game.

SAN DIEGO PADRES TEAM TOTAL OVER --my book does not have the total listed yet, but with the hot bats of this Padres team, and the poor pitching of the Phils, Im probably going to bet this total for my first total bet of the year. Cole Hamels has not been able to get back into form, and I think San Diego behind the solid pitching of Chris Young will be relaxed and focused at the plate.

HOUSTON ASTROS (-144)--

Reds are 4-9 in their last 13 games on grass, and 3-8 in Cuetos last 11 starts. Houston is 13-3 in their last 16 games as a home favorite and are 8-2 in Oswalts last 10 starts vs. the National League Central. Also, very important, Oswalt is 24-1 against the Reds in his career. Houston will hit with confidence today now that they are back in their new ballpark.

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (-142)--
San Francisco has opened the season at 0-5 against divison opponents and now must face Haren who allowed just 3 earned runs in his 13 innings pitched this season. These two starts came against the Dodgers and Rockies who have stronger lineups than this Giants' team, who own a .236 team batting average. Huge pitching matchup here as as Haren squares off against Sanchez who is 1-5 when starting against Arizona with an ERA of 8.56.

CHICAGO CUBS (-177)--

Ill go with the pitching mismatch in this one as my reasoning for taking the Cubbies. St. Louis is sending a inexperienced pitcher to the mound today to face a potent offensive lineup. Zambrano is on the mound and he was solid in his last outing. I know he tends to lose focus and give up runs, but I think the Cubs will outswing the Cardinals today.

NEW YORK YANKEES TEAM TOTAL OVER-- NO PLAY..My book has the team total at 5 and I think its a bit steep.
again my book does not have this total posted, but Im going to take it over for the Yankees as a team because I think they will be coming out in this game swinging for the fences. Im not comfortable with Reyes as a pitcher going in and shutting down this team after their embarrassing display yesterday. Im staying away from betting on a winner in this game though, because the Yankees bullpen sucks and could end up losing again in the later innings.

ADDED PLAY--NYY FIRST 5 INNINGS -.5---Joba should keep Yankees in front while he is in the game. Whether the bullpen holds is a different story, but I see the Yankees leading while he is in the game.

Decided to go with the runline here with the value because my reasoning for playing the cubs is because of the inexperienced pitcher on the opposing side. That alone would not be the makings of a pitchers duel, and the cubs should win by more than a run. GL

Decided to lay off the Yankees team total because my book has it at 5 and I can see them scoring about 5, but 6 seems a bit steep. I do like the Yankees to come out swinging and think their weakness is their bullpen. Joba should keep them in front, now whether or not their bullpen can hold the lead, is a different story. Joba should keep them in front while he is in and hopefully he will go first 5.
