You're running out of time...but its getting closer and closer to real game situations as most teams are starting opening day lineups and having starters throw 80+ pitches. One thing that comes into play here are scheduled pitchers. Most teams post who they plan to throw in a given game...which is a nice advantage when it comes to taking a team or laying off.

If you like to gamble then by all means. It is really flipping a coin though. No team really cares about winning, they only care about trying out their new talent and looking at chemistry, all sports are like that. Plus starters don't go all out because that would be horrible if you get hurt before the regular season because you ran into the fence chasing a ball during a spring training game. Stay away! Bet the beginning of the season light and just like in basketball the second half of the season should be where you make the cash.

There's nothing wrong with betting preseason MLB, as long as you can get down enough for you at reasonable prices since some books don't use regular season vig structures. Yes, it's quite random in ways, but so is baseball. No question there are right sides out there if you have all the information and know how to analyze it.
