    EP36's Daily Double
Alright, I messed around with some different crap the 1st week of the season. Grand Salami and some other things and I just decided that I need to find the two best bets IMO and play 'em each day. No more than two and we'll see how my "plate discipline" is with sticking to this over the course of the grind. Rebooted with a deposit just for baseball, so this will be the tracking for that. Will try to do write-ups for each game, which should mean I am focusing and not just throwing darts.

I sucked ass on a lot of my bets earlier this week, so keep that in mind with whatever you do with this information.

    April 6th: Phillies -117
Might be simplistic here, but the Cubs are having major issues scoring runs so why back a team that has not scored more than three runs this year and only two runs through the 1st two games of this series? Their pitching has been decent. Villanueva goes today after working out of the pen the first week. He is trying to stick as the 5th starter. He had an up & down Spring. Burnett for PHI. He shook off a tough Spring and limited TEX to one run on seven hits through 6 I{ in his Phils' debut. He has good numbers @ Wrigley. 5-0 in seven career starts. The Phils offense has come back down to earth since their explosive opener where they hung 14 on TEX. They still have decent overall numbers though with a .283 team BA compared to just .212 for CHC.

    April 6th: Rockies-Diamondbacks Over 9 [-110]
Even though both Miley & Anderson have been serviceable pitchers to start 2014, both these teams are locked into OVERs mode early. ARI has played OVERs in six of eight, while COL is a perfect five for five in OVERs so far. Even when the starters for both clubs have done well, the bullpens have provided plenty of runs to the opposition. ARI sports a bullpen ERA of 6.33, while COL comes in at 5.68. The Rockies offense has been torrid with a .300+ team BA to start. They have pounded the D-backs for 21 runs in the 1st two games of this series and have a streak of four straight with five runs or better. The key will be getting to those gascan bullpens. Should be interesting to see how Anderson does in his first Coors Field start. If one or both starters are gone by the 6th inning, this should be in good shape to add runs late.

Faded him in the Spring for good money, but looked like he was okay after that 1st start. But old Mr.Wild returns today. Oh well, at least there is a long way to go - so just need the dunce to settle in and shut it down.

Watched a lot of A.J. as a pirate fan, surprised to see that he lasted 5 2/3 because every time he would allow runs, he would completely fall apart, which struck am as odd since he is so experienced. Definitely fade him at St. Louis if he pitches there, he has a brutal ERA at that stadium

                April 7th: Angels-Astros Over 8.5 [-125]
Wilson vs. Cosart. CJ struggled to open against SEA. 6 ER in 5.2 IP. HOU is not a great offensive club, but they have some pieces. Should have confidence from knocking Weaver around a bit yesterday. Cosart always seems to teeter on disaster, but has been masterful at getting out of jams. His pitch count though will struggle to stay low mostly due to that and the lack of a great out pitch. This one should yield runs against the pens, both of which have stumbled out of the gates. If both are gone by the 6th, expect the runs to roll in. LAA has played Overs on 5/6.

Paulino v. Myles, battle of the failed Astros. Paulibo was terrible this Spring, but managed to avoid major trouble in his opener. He still allows plenty of base runners, so COL should have opportunities. Yesterday was the first day their offense really struggled.Myles showed hittability, giving up 4 ER in 5 IP. Bullpens likely to get involved tonight. Both are gas. ChiSox with a 6+ ERA % COL just under 5 from their relievers.

                                            Aprul 8th: Mariners -120
Paxson vs. Santiago. Paxton dominated the Angels in his first start of the season, allowing just two hits while striking out nine in 7 IP. Santiago allowed four ER in 5 IP against this same Seattle club before being removed due to back stiffness. LA is batting just .224 against lefties so far and were swept by the Ms in the opening series. Pitching was pounded for 26 runs in that series. The bullpen has been rough with a 6.87 ERA, so if SEA can work Santiago out of the game by the 5th or 6th inning, they should stand a chance to tack on more runs late.

Stults vs. McAllister. Both were subpar in their openers. CLE will need to prove it can hit lefties, but Stults will need to prove he can get outs. Miami bashed him pretty well. Small advantage as most of the lineup saw Stults in the Spring. McAllister had a bit of a rough Spring that carried over. SD put up their best offensive showing in the series opener, so could roll that into another good day. Taking first five as the pens are decent & may not yield more oops late.

Johnson vs. Nicasio. Johnson was pounded by KC for 7 runs in 4.2 IP. Walks again seemed a bit of an issue and overall ineffectiveness. Nicasio was solid in his season debut, but has struggled for consistency at Coors with a home ERA over 6 as you combine 2013 & 2012. Both teams hitting well, just need the consistent big hits. Bullpens are still poor, so the sooner the starters depart, the better. Wind blowing out some to RF won't hurt.

Arroyo still isn't quite stretched out because he had a short Spring, so he likely won't go past the 5th or 6th. That means it's Meet the Meaty Bullpen time late for SF. Bullpen has a gnarly 6.31 ERA. Lincecum was okay considering he had food poisoning before his last start. Still, he's continued to struggle so getting the Over 7.5 @ + money is a nice try. Probably be a Points play for me at least. Good luck.

Walks can be a problem for both, which would add scoring oops. MIN is 8/8 hitting OVERs this season. Their pitching is getting lit up with a team ERA over 6. OAK much better, but their pen did yack up a 4-1 9th inning lead. MIN has given up at least 7 runs in six games already. OAK pounded out 15 in the 1st two games of the series.
