    Mets Turn to Maine Man
Tonight's mismatch on the mound in DC should lead to the Mets beginning a new winning streak.

    By: Pacific Star

Last night the New York Mets had their 5-game winning streak snapped when their bats suddenly went cold. However, we think they come back on Saturday in a big way against Washington.

Mets starter John Maine has been one of the hottest pitchers in the Major Leagues the past few weeks, tossing 23 consecutive scoreless innings while giving up only 10 hits. While we expect him to regress somewhat to the norm eventually, he shouldnt have much trouble vs the light hitting Nats.

Washington starter Jason Bergmann (who takes the place of departed stalwart Livian Hernandez) is making just his second career start, and first this season, and is being thrown right into the fire against one of the best lineups in the game. Bergmann has pitched in 17 games this season in relief and hasn't exactly been a world beater. His ERA stands at an unspectacular 8.14 and he has given up a staggering 37 hits in just 21 innings of work.

The Mets are one of the best road teams in the game and this contest looks like a complete pitching mismatch. Look for the New York bats to come alive tonight as the Mets even up the series.

    Play: Mets (-144)

Maine has been pitching lights out as of late i will say that. although washington has won the last 8 out of the 9 meetings at home this year against the mets.

You might wanna recheck that stat because it looks like the Mets own Washington at RFK not the other way around.

That line looks alittle low considering all of the stats that favor New York so be careful, this may be a trap game.
