What the hell is this? Does St Louis have homefield advantage here? This makes no sense that a wild card team would be hosting the first game to the best team in baseball.

Nats have homefield, but only get the last 3 games at home. It's possible the Nats, which have the best record may not play two games at home if they get swept. Only in baseball could they mess up a playoff system. Having the the first two games at home is more important than having the last 3 games at home.

For those that don't know the extra wild card team got approved after regular season and post season schedule dates were set. To make the new wild card set up work they had to kill a travel day. Under the 2-2-1 set up a teams have to travel twice if it goes 5 games where as under the 2-3 set up teams have to travel once.
