Argentina will win the world cup.

Most likely in regulation time as well. Betting on matches in the world cup based on previous matches is a recipe for disaster. Stop thinking results matter, because Spain won every critical game 1-0 in 2010 when I told you all they'd win the cup. Low is a good manager but I don't trust him in this game. The world cup is not a time to experiment. Germany's defense is suspect. The way to beat Argentina is in the midfield. And Germany has the best midfield in the world with Schwein, Kroos, and Khedira. You can't find too many flaws in their team really. That's why I bet them pre-tourney to win it all -- simply because of the roster, and the hunger level. Germany has the best roster on paper, followed by Spain, and then Argentina imo.

Germany's D is really shaky. There isn't one guy back there that can handle the speed and agressiveness of the Argentinians. Boetang is going to get exposed in this game, mark my words. Messi will have him turning in circles. People say "messi hasn't had that world cup moment. he doesn't look like the best player in the world." everyone has to remember that it doesn't matter what's happened to this point. It's one game. All the pressure is on Messi. His legacy is on the line. It's just one game. Who do you trust more taking a free kick in a world cup final? Messi or Ozil/Schweinsteiger/Muller/whoever else they like to get in on it. The answer is a no-brainer. I don't care what Messi has done to this point.

Di Maria will 100% be back to play this match. This Germany team is slow at the back, trust me. The speed of Argentina with Messi Di Maria Higuaine Aguero is going to give the Germany defense fits. Big fits. You will see.

Argentina's defense has been the best defense in the tournament bar none. Marcherano is playing the best of his career. And look at the veteran presence at the back with Demechales Marcherano and Zabaleta. All guys that have played in multiple world cups and don't seem to have slowed down. The only defender on Germany I can say has that experienced and hasn't slowed down is Lahm.

The key for Germany is that they've really been able to keep their midfielders right where they should be for the entire tournament. They haven't been challenged too mcuh defensively. When that happens, Germany starts to control the entire game because their midfielders are playing forward now for 75% of the match. That won't happen against Argentina. The passes from the midfielders to the forwards are gonna be a lot longer and more stretched then you've ever seen them in previous games this tournament.

I don't like Argentina's mids too much, but they will do enough here to just avoid dribbling by the German midfielders. We may see a good amount of long balls to skip the midfield. I'm not sure. All I know is that Argentina's attack will control this game.

The Germans know how to score inside the box better than anyone but that is gonna be shut down by Argentina. They're gonna have to take some chances from outside, and they are certainly capable with that stacked roster. I think bringing in Podolski around the 75th minute will be a great move her by Low, which he probably won't do.

If there's one team that can control a superstar, it's Germany. They're definitely creative enough to make something happen in this game, but I'm telling you, they will really have a tough time scoring against Argentina, and a tough time defending them too.

These odds should be reversed, and would be if Germany didn't slaughter a shitty ass Brazil team where that outcome was evident from a month ago. Brazil as the world cup favs. LOL. I laughed when I saw the lines.

Now someone that knows about soccer please come in here and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.

lol if you think germany is going to play a slow game and allow this to go past regulation. Argentina is tired and injured, believe it, mascherano's torn asshole plus concussion, aguero injured and out of form, di maria f'd up leg (and prolly not in form), and the whole argentina team only given 3 days to rest after a gruelling 120minute 0-0 game.

germany will begin the game slowly, but will find a way to the back of the net at least twice against this argentinian team. Also, you have to compare the german's gk to that of the argie's whose only display was blocking two penalties which is mostly luck. Expect germany to be winning 1-0/2-0 by the end of the 1st half.

Goat, didn't you pick Germany to win the World Cup?

I'm staying away from this match and tbh I think it's going to be similar to the Argentina - Netherlands match and one small mistake can make the difference. My lean is Argentina, though.

You just posted here that you were making two bets on the final:

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/foru...cup-final.html

    So what are you doing?

Marcherano for sure has a concussion, so I rerate their defense. DiMaria is NOT going to be 100%, so that's another handicap.

I don't like anything very much about Germany, which is contrary to what most people say. I want to bet on extra time and PKs.

The line is correct if you are a betting operation disguised as a sportsbook and you want to take as much action on Germany as possible.

Thought it over and had a change of mind.

IMO there is very good value in both bets I posted. But I really can't find arguments for backing one of the two teams to win, that's really tough to predict.

    I make it simple.
    Germany vs dwarf Messi.
    Who will win?

Gonna be nice and more complete comparison:

    Neuer vs Romero = ?
    Zabaleta vs Lahm = ?
    Demichelis vs Boateng =?
    Garay vs Hummels =?
    Rojo vs Howedes =?
    Mascherano vs Khedira =?
    Biligia/Gago vs Schweinsteiger =?
    Perez/di Maria vs Kroos =?
    Aguero vs Muller =?
    Higuain vs Klose =?
    Messi vs Ozil =?

If anyone knows all the players quality and fill out the question mark. Than you will have the 2014 WC Champion winner!

Germany have a style of soccer ... They have an identity followed by a roster bolstered of stars. They have been playing all tournament with basically 10 men. Why 10? Because Ozil hasn't done shit, all he does is loose the ball and give it away. That's what scary about this team . They don't rely on 1 person .

If you think Germany's defense is "sus" then wtf do you say about Argentinas defense?

Imo Germany will win this cup. They're too good to lose to Argentina.

The ONLY way Argentina win is IF MESSI SHOWS UP. Which he hasn't since round of 16. Don't get confuse , Argentina has only faced 1 real opponent and that was Netherlands and neither team did anything all 120 mins. Germany is more complete team than Netherlands.

    Good analysis Goat.

The public is disillusioned by the 7-1 defeat, so much so that they forget how pathetic Brazil has been this world cup.

Argentina beat Germany 3-1 in 2012. Messi scored. Di Maria scored. Germany got a red card. Messi even got a penalty that he missed. Point being the main Argentinian players have experience taking this team apart. Obviously this is a different German team than 2012, but they carry their playing style over the years and it is very useful to have a level of comfort that you've beaten this team before.

This final should be very tight, all it takes is a slip from either side. Given that the books favour Germany, probably means they hope to cash the shit out of this ML. Either side is capable of scoring and chasing a goal deficit, probably 1-1.

That 3-1 was a meaningless friendly game where Germany used some reserve players. In the last world cup's quarter final in 2010, Germany destroyed Argentina 4-0. But I agree this will be a very tight game, Argentina are most probably the hardest opponent the Germans have faced so far. Argentinian defense is a tough one this year and Germany have struggled against defensive-minded teams before such as Algeria.

if you think these teams will alter the dynamic of their squads for a final you must be fooling yourself...the knockout round is purely situational, no time to experiment with the trophy on the line...argentina will play very deep out of the back and rely on the front 3 to create chances and and most importantly earn set pieces to send men up without the immediate counter ability from open play...messi is the star but also remember that he will be enclosed by hummels, boateng, lahm, kroos, schweinsteiger and khedira...the key factor for me when looking at this matchup will be the defensive work argentina puts in when germany is on the ball...against holland mascherano and co. worked fantastically to recover limiting robben and especially van persie to nothing more than placeholders that is why (possible injury and fatigue, 120 minutes of semi-final will factor in this match). we saw what happened to brazil when you designate offensive/defensive duties...argentina will undoubtedly defend a lot better but control the game they will not...example: del bosque admitted that spain were not a great defensive team but controlling the ball allowed them to waltz along 1-0 victories to a world title...we collectively ask ourselves how are they still here, germany begs us to wonder why havnt they lifted the trophy sooner...hoping messi plays the greatest game of his life given all the factors working against him isnt enough to back them...germany will lift its 4th tomorrow..

:for the funky stat bettors...out of the 3 current championships held by germany...two of them came in WC years ending in 4 (1954,1974)....2014 anyone?

That was when the coke head was in charge. In 2006 on home soil Germans needed late goal to tie the game then penalties to beat Argies.

Really? Bother to mention about a friendly game and Germany was 1 man down after 30 min play?

Its same Germany team since WC 2010, same team that beat Arg with 4-0 and same team that played together for 4 years.
Yours point of view in soccer and both these teams really suxs.

Last its same Germany team that know how to tear a different Argentina apart.

But I dont mind peoples like u taking Argentina to win with such crap analys. Place more money on Argentina, so the odds on Germany can rise abit more and I can win more.
