I'm actually living abroad, but close to the UK, and took a flight (cheap one) just especially to place these bets ... I used to live in the UK though and kept my UK bank accounts open, so it was easy paying for the bets with my UK DC ... you should do the same if you are planning on betting big on some other big events which can't be rigged (like the US elections and/or any other International event).

If you ever come from the US to the UK, open a bank account there (ask a friend or anyone you know there to put your name on a bill so you would have a "proof of address", if you know nobody there you can still use a mailbox e.g. MBE or a similar service to open a basic account e.g. with Santander where no proof of address is needed and then you get a statement from that bank which serves as a proof of your address) --> Then everytime you plan to come to the UK you can easily bet big.

The only risk for you is to use GBP as a currency and not USD ... I actually keep my savings in GBP, it's a good currency in my opinion, I do think however due to the European crisis that the USD would be #1, GBP #2 and Australian and Euro #3 in terms of value against each other.

Local books here in Mexico were taking bets. I never saw any slips and these guys talk big so? The odds on Romney were definitely more attractive than Obama's, but I saw Obama's odds as 35% yield in 2 weeks, which is something you don't get anywhere else.

I never look at yields of over 100% as "Lock" ... but reading Nate Silver's blog, this forum and InTrade made me feel certian that Obama was a lock and not the other way around.

I haven't- EVER. Myself I never bet teams I'm a fan of, well rarely. I also don't normally share my picks, just an old habit. These two are always betting their teams regardless of the odds. One will always bet on the Cowboys (was not in a good mood all year last season, not much better this) and the other the Steelers. I was at the bar a couple weeks ago and one was complaining "What! They're not offering the Steelers at all? That's just bullshit?!? What... is it too easy money!?!" "Uh, I think the Steelers have a bye this week." "Oh they don't play?" "Don't think so, no."

These guys are older (I'm 49 and looking at 50 in a few months, I'd guess they're both early 70's) and obviously have some money, more then I anyway. I took and early out and sold a small business so I'm on a much smaller budget. One's married and I believe he hangs out at the sports book to avoid his bitch of a wife. Seriously I can't stand 5 minutes in the same room as her. Even when I do agree with her opinions she's just screeching them and repeating them- over and over and over. Plus she smokes non-stop. The other guy's single and I'd bet he's down there playing them slots to make small talk with the honeys. They're both always telling me "Oh, she likes me!" Um, no she likes your tipping habits. The servers are hot, wearing little ref type B&W halter tops and white hot pants. My girlfriend came in one day, looked around and said "you're here too often." "No, I'm here just the right amount of time, I want a boss I'll go back to work."

Anyway, again congrats on the nice Obama haul. Wish it were me. The way my NFL season is going I could use it.

Speaking of girlfriends, I wish I could get my ex back, I love her very much and even though she cheated on me (and you would say I'm an idiot I want her back) I know she has a good heart and she won't do it again ... it's just impossible to convince her go back together, she stayed in the UK (but she's American originally, well, born in California but grew up in Central America, a latina girl) - it sucks, she has a new boyfriend now but I know she doesn't love him, it's just hard for me to convince her to be together, when I was in the UK to place the bets and cash them we met each other and she told me she has a boyfriend and was honest about everything .... but she's just not ready to be back together, she doesn't trust me because last time I didn't trust her, so I'm now I'm getting a taste of her own medicine ... that sucks!

I live in Mexico just north of the city of Merida. It's a 3 -/+ drive to Cancun. I moved here right as Obama was running for his first term. I moved down here because I could retire at an younger age but would not be able to afford to pay for health insurance. Here top notch care insurance runs me 1200 a year. I had a chest infection earlier this year and spent 7 nights in a hospital (Alta Brias) which was approved to care for both Bush and Clinton should an emergency arise during their visits. It cost me 1100 USD total, can you imagine how fast 1100 USD would go in a US hospital? My insurance didn't pay a dime because my deductible is 5k life time. Here private insurances do life time deductibles, it's the law I think. So if I keep my policy going with the same company (an sub of GE, yes that GE) after my medical bills have totaled 5K I'll never have another out or pocket expense.

Sucks about your girlfriend. If she's what you want I hope you can get it back together. The lady I've been seeing and now live with is a lady I used to see three years ago. We kind faded out because my father was very ill and I was spending 75% of my time in California taking care of him. I ran into her by chance last Christmas season in a store and we've been together since. Latinas can be hot, really hot. Like I said I'm 49, she's 36 and very much a hard body. Likes adventures, loves nude or topless beaches. She's a vice principle at a very exclusive private school, place looks like a resort. She speaks 5 languages and is damn smart. And no, I don't have any idea why she's with me... trust me it isn't for the money.

She sent me a link to the Ticketmaster Mexico and I thought "alright how much could it be?" I checked and tickets about midway center (50+ rows back) were available. When I first saw the price, in pesos, I did the math in my head real quick- came up with $50 USD ea. Ok, fine I'll buy them. But I thought it kind of seemed cheap, maybe here in Mexico they can't get hundreds for a concert? I got through putting my CC info in and had my finger on the "purchase" button and realized they're not $50 they're $500! I called her back and told her I wasn't paying 1K to see Elton 300 yards away out in the middle of the jungle. She responded with "but you're an American, money doesn't mean anything to you!" It turned into a very short phone call and she hung up pissed off. I didn't hear from her for three weeks then suddenly one Friday around noon she called and asked "what are we doing tonight?" What?!?" "You're my boyfriend we should go out, yes?" "No, we stopped being a couple when you got mad because I wouldn't buy concert tickets." I should learn from you how to treat my ex because when I treated her badly she was all after me, and when I chased her she ignored me.

Well, I don't care about her now, she has a new "boyfriend" she's taking advantage of... she lies to him a lot but I won't get into their relationship... I know he has trust issues with her and he won't be the first nor the last.

I wish I could find a Latina girl who's decent and want a genuine relationship and doesn't want me for money or other reasons - but it seems like impossible finding such a girl, the only place to look for is Jerusalem, no other place ... only in this city you might tackle a pretty converted-to-Judaism Colombian girl, who believes in Judaism (i.e. no cheating) ... no other place in the world has many girls of this kind.
