How to make a team

• Rank in the top 12 for points won during SBR Poker tournament play from April 21 — July 25.
• Twelve slots will be assigned for each region. Leaderboards will be posted with standings by country. Confederates refers to 12 US members who do not qualify for Team US.

Team Match Schedule (July 28 — July 31)

• Twelve tournaments per day from 12:00PM-11:00PM ET.
• Four players per tournament (1 player from each region).

Scoring details

• Each tournament will award 2 points for the winning team, and 1 point for the runner-ups team. Co-champions will be crowned in the event of a tie with an equal division of the pot. A leaderboard will be maintained in Players Talk showing how many points each team has.

Prize-pool
Winning team: 5,000 betpoints each
Runner-up: 2,500 poker pts each
3rd place: 1,000 poker pts each
4th place: 500 poker pts each

Fine-print

1. Must be an SBR Pro to represent a team. Reminders will be sent during qualification period.
2. Users banned during the qualification period may lose their right to make a team at SBR's discretion.
3. One entry per household.
4. Tiebreaker will be SBRforum join date during qualification period.
5. It will be the responsibility of each team to decide which player will represent them per tourney. Players may compete in only one tournament per day. Players may not share the password with players that have not qualified under any circumstance - no points will be counted for that region. Events will be PW protected & player usernames altered to include region.

Last year the crying was it was too easy to make Team World, and too hard to make team US.

SBR adds another US team, addresses the balance of making team world, and its still not good enough

Reminds me of those cartoon bears that keep saying the porridge is either too cold or too hot.

If it was done this way last year, the cutoff for World team would have been 5330 points with 4 non-European players making the cut, compared to 5610 for Canada and 8990 for US. It still won't be balanced (I'm guessing cutoff for Confederate team will still be quite a bit higher than cutoff for the World team), but it's a lot closer than last year, where 1020 points/4 cashes was enough to make the team

Tough to make the world team? Some guy made the World team last year after playing one week of poker. It has to get a little tougher, hoss.

As the best 12 US players finish last every year, I guess they had to find a way put a team together they could beat finally!

Definitely better this way for the bulk of participants (US players), and at least provides a more balanced contest. The final tournament setup between the teams is too high-variance to be indicative of much (as previous years have proven), and the prizes are a bit underwhelming for a 3 month contest...but that's more than offset by the dailies I think. World Cup has always been more about filling the poker schedule during the summer, and at least this time around SBR listened to feedback and made some great changes...good stuff

Maybe not ideal yet, but certainly much better and more fair to everyone involved. I certainly like that SBR has taken this step. And who knows, maybe if it's still very unfair based on the final outcome they will modify it again next year? But clearly they have taken one big step to make their customers (as a whole) feel much better about it so thanks for that!

Yes, four man sit n go with one member of each team.

Your team has a few days to get together and hash out what times fit each person's schedule. For the most part, this has worked well.

Last year there was an MVP prize for the best individual during the sit n go's, but doesn't look like that is happening this time around.

Dane, you might see me playing the high roller on Saturday, because i enjoy the structure or the Sunday rebury event .
I love playing here, and i m probably one of a handful of players that cashed the big bucks SBR generous provide day in and day out, but like you and Downsouth, i think that i got burned out in poker. I m looking forward enjoy this summer and leave the poker for the winter.
