The Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild finalize their season series Tuesday from Ball Arena in Denver, and we have our best Minnesota Wild vs. Colorado Avalanche NHL player props based on the best NHL odds.

The Colorado Avalanche (48-24-6) will be as sour as pickled sauerkraut after Sunday's three-goal loss at home against the Dallas Stars. That doesn't bode well for the visiting Minnesota Wild (37-31-9), who are all but eliminated from playoff contention. Those two face off Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN) from Ball Arena in Denver, Colo.

The Avalanche boast the league's best home points percentage (.776) and beat the Wild in all three previous encounters this season. Among all the showstoppers in the Avalanche lineup, Nathan MacKinnon is the undisputed headline act. The Hart Trophy odds frontrunner's proficiency is even more pronounced at Ball Arena, where he has at least one point in 37 of 38 games.

Defeated in three of the last five in hostile rinks, the Wild enter Tuesday's game with the 18th-ranked road points percentage (.514). Can they turn that around and score an upset win over the Avalanche?

Here are our best Wild vs. Avalanche NHL player props and NHL picks (odds via our best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Wild vs. Avalanche prediction

Avalanche -1.5 (+126 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tuesday's game represents a difficult proposition for the visitors. The fact the Wild have nothing to play for other than pride, coupled with the Avalanche needing to win to avoid the possibility of being overtaken by the Winnipeg Jets, should set the tone.

The last time these two met, on April 4, the Avs beat the Wild 5-2 in Minnesota. In addition, the Avs have lost two in a row by a combined 13-6, so they'll be desperate to prevent any rot from setting in before the playoffs commence. The Dallas Stars, five points ahead of the Avs with four games remaining, are basically out of reach.

However, the Avalanche know home-ice advantage in the first round is as essential as strapping yourself in before the rollercoaster starts moving. That motivation should be enough to win by at least two goals. At +126, FanDuel offers the best value of our best sports betting sites. A winning $10 bet will pay $22.60, implying a probability of 44.25%.

Nathan MacKinnon over 4.5 shots (-145 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

MacKinnon's internal beast is unlike any other. He dominates almost every game, especially at home. The Avs' superstar has at least five shots in nine of his last 10 home games and five of the previous six overall.

Mikko Rantanen, his right-hand man, is in concussion protocol and probably won't play Tuesday. That puts even more onus on MacKinnon to let loose, which he does better than anyone else. He had eight shots against the Stars on Sunday in a losing effort. Expect MacKinnon to be as bullish in a must-win scenario.

bet365 offers -150, Caesars -152, FanDuel -146, and BetMGM -159. The -145 odds at DraftKings pays out $16.90 on a winning $10 wager. You can also lock in MacKinnon to notch at least six shots at FanDuel at a tasty +120.

Nathan MacKinnon to score, Avalanche win (+148 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

With only one goal in the last four games, MacKinnon must feel like a baby without his regular milk intake. He has 31 goals in 38 home contests and is just two shy of hitting 50 for the first time in his illustrious career. He has five goals in his last six games at Ball Arena and scored one against the Wild in the previous meeting.

FanDuel has this prop at +148, which is a tasty proposition if you feel confident about the two-part aspect. Since we're backing the Avs to win, it's logical to add a MacKinnon goal. A $10 winning bet will pay out $24.80, accompanying a 40.32% probability.
