What player prop picks are justified, and which ones have lines inflated as overreactions to what played out in Week 1? Read on for our top NFL prop bets for Week 2.

One example of how much player props have taken the betting world by storm is that before the season-opening kickoff between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, more money had been wagered on Cooper Kupp as an “anytime touchdown scorer” than the Los Angeles Rams’ point spread.

With this week’s picks, we identify our best passing, rushing, and receiving prop wagers from across the NFL slate.

Here are our NFL prop picks for Week 2 based on the odds at BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and DraftKings Sportsbook.

NFL Week 2 Prop Picks Analysis

Carr Over 276.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders' offense fell flat in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Carr threw three interceptions and was pressured on 29% of dropbacks in Week 1, taking six sacks in the process.

We should have figured the Chargers' pass rush would be dynamic this year, as newly acquired Khalil Mack and teammate Joey Bosa ranked second and third, respectively, in the entire league in quarterback pressures on third down over the last five seasons.

Carr seemingly has a much easier opponent this week, as the Arizona Cardinals' pass defense was shredded for 360 yards and five touchdowns by Patrick Mahomes in Week 1. In addition, Arizona does not have the same pass rush and ability to get to the quarterback with four-down linemen as the Chargers, as evidenced by the fact that they blitzed Mahomes on 51% of his dropbacks.

Thus, Carr should be more comfortable in the pocket and have more time to locate his plethora of outstanding skill position players.

Barkley To Have More Rushing Yards Than McCaffrey (-125)

Not long ago, there were hot debates about which player between Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey should be taken first overall in fantasy football drafts. Unfortunately, the last couple of seasons have played out similarly for each, with numerous missed games for various injuries.

However, last week, Barkley looked like the running back the Giants believed he was when they drafted him No. 2 overall. His 164 rushing yards against Tennessee led all players in Week 1. He also has the early look of being New York’s workhorse this season, as his 82.8% of snaps played were the most of any running back.

Comparatively, McCaffrey received just 10 carries and 14 total touches, as the Panthers had four different players (not including the quarterback) run the football. Thus, the ceiling seems low on McCaffrey’s weekly usage under Matt Rhule’s guidance, while the sky is the limit for Barkley under a new offensive vision from Brian Daboll this year.

Peoples-Jones Over 36.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Peoples-Jones plays for a run-first team, but with Jarvis Landry gone, he is clearly Cleveland’s No. 2 passing option behind Amari Cooper. Peoples-Jones played 82% of the snaps and ran routes on 92% of the team’s dropbacks, finishing with 60 yards on 11 targets. According to Jacob Gibbs, Peoples-Jones was also one of seven wide receivers with at least a 30% target and air yards share.

New York ranked dead-last in dropback EPA per play and pass DVOA in 2021, and with its best cover cornerback likely shadowing Cooper, Peoples-Jones should be the biggest beneficiary in the passing game once again.
