The oldest rivalry in the NFL resumes in Week 2 when the Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. Read on for our Bears-Packers picks.

It may surprise most that Chicago is the 1-0 team and Green Bay is the team at 0-1 entering this matchup. The question surrounding the Bears is, are they a team on the rise, or was their season-opening victory over the San Francisco 49ers aided by the monsoon conditions? And for the Packers, will this be the week their young wide receivers step up and the offense starts to gel?

Bears vs. Packers Odds Analysis

Green Bay’s point spread reached a low of -8.5 but has more commonly bounced between -9.5 and -10 this week. The Packers are a popular favorite, attracting 62% of the bets and 85% of the handle.

There has been much more movement on the total than the point spread, lowering from 45.5 to 41.5. There has been good two-way action thus far, with 60% of the tickets and 52% of the cash supporting the Under.

Season-opening clunkers are becoming the norm in Green Bay, as the Pack have lost their last two Week 1 games by a combined 61-10. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has averaged 164 passing yards in those two games while posting zero touchdown passes, three interceptions, and taking five sacks. However, bettors should “R-E-L-A-X,” as Green Bay immediately turned things around last year and won seven consecutive games after their 38-3 Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

From a betting perspective, Green Bay has been incredibly productive after losses, as the team has won and covered 11 straight games after a loss, with Rodgers throwing just one interception in those contests. 

In all, Green Bay is 39-9 in Matt LaFleur’s four seasons aside from those two outliers, so the Packers should still be viewed every bit as the well-oiled machine as they have been.

Rodgers has led the team to six straight covers against Chicago, and he is 20-7 ATS in his 27 meetings with the Bears. Considering Rodgers went 38 consecutive games against division rivals before the loss to Minnesota without throwing an interception, we are confident that he will play a much cleaner game this time.

The Minnesota Vikings found out the easiest way to fluster Rodgers is to create pressure. When pressured in the Week 1 loss, Rodgers went 1-6 for 12 yards, 0 TDs, one interception, and was sacked four times. Rodgers was pressured 10 times in all, nine without being blitzed. He also averaged 2.7 air yards per completion, which was the sixth lowest of his career. However, the Bears do not have nearly the semblance of a pass rush that Minnesota does, especially after losing Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks. 

In addition, Justin Fields is coming off his second career game with at least two touchdown passes (he has made 11 career starts), and we look for him to ride that momentum this week.

Rodgers Over 250.5 passing yards (-110) ★★

Green Bay’s offense sputtered against Minnesota because tackles David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins missed the game. However, with both having a chance to play Sunday, as well as wide receiver Allen Lazard who missed Week 1 with an ankle injury, that should help Rodgers immensely.

Bettors will pay much heavier -145 juice at DraftKings for a line of just one yard less (245.5), so head to BetMGM for the best value.
