The Arizona Cardinals ended a six-year playoff drought last season with a wild-card berth but lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in the first round. Check out the Cardinals' futures odds, picks, and preview for the upcoming season.

A wild-card round playoff exit was disappointing for a Cardinals team that started the 2020 season with a 7-0 record for the first time since 1974. However, Arizona went 5-6 down the stretch as injuries took their toll, namely with Kyler Murray missing three games and DeAndre Hopkins playing in a total of only 10 games.

Arizona's futures odds entering this season took a slight hit when Hopkins was suspended six games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. Can the Cardinals hold down the fort and be successful in his absence?

Here’s our 2022 NFL season preview for the Arizona Cardinals with a look at the team’s futures markets and our top picks (odds via BetMGM and FanDuel Sportsbook).

Arizona Cardinals 2022 Picks

Under 8.5 wins (-105 via BetMGM)To miss the playoffs (-115 via BetMGM)To start 0-4 (+700 via BetMGM)Marquise Brown Over 875.5 receiving yards (-112 via FanDuel)

Under 8.5 Wins (-105)

Arizona's late-season issues have surfaced in all three years under Kingsbury. From 2019 to 2021, the Cardinals are a combined 15-5-1 in their first seven games. However, from the eighth game on, Arizona is just 9-19.

These issues also were consistent with Kingsbury's Texas Tech teams. From 2013 to 2018, his Red Raiders went 27-15 through the first seven games and finished 8-25 collectively from the eighth to the end of the season. Thus, Kingsbury's losing record in the second half of each season suggests opponents figure out his offensive schemes, and there are not a lot of adjustments made.

Arizona's offense also has a much lower ceiling without Hopkins, so the Cardinals should struggle even before getting to the latter part of the season.

To Miss The Playoffs (-115)

Arizona backers will be optimistic that the team can offset Hopkins' absence with the draft-day trade for Marquise Brown, Murray's teammate at Oklahoma. However, Murray relies so much on Hopkins's elite size as a safety net when he is in trouble, and his numbers are vastly different with him on the field vs. off the field.

Murray is 8-2 with Hopkins on the field, with a total QBR of 64 and a 19:9 touchdown to interception ratio. In five games without Hopkins, Murray has won just one start, and his total QBR drops to 37 to go along with five touchdowns to three picks.

Given that Kingsbury's teams typically get off to hot starts, it may be difficult for the Cardinals to adjust to a rare poor opening to the campaign.

To Start 0-4 (+700)

Even with a healthy Hopkins, Arizona was likely starting 0-3, anyway. The Cardinals kick off the season at home against the Kansas City Chiefs, travel to Las Vegas to face the retooled Raiders, and then host the juggernaut Rams.

FPI doesn't give Arizona better than a 52% chance to win any of those games. The key to this bet will be a road date with the Panthers in the fourth game, but Carolina could improve in all facets with a healthy quarterback competition between Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold.

It's also worrisome that Murray didn't attend all the team's OTAs and removed all social media references to the Cardinals in February. He wants a long-term deal, but if that doesn't get negotiated, Arizona's season could snowball fast if it starts 0-3.

Brown Over 875.5 Receiving Yards (-112)

Arizona expects big things from "Hollywood" after giving up a first-round pick to get him. He's coming off a 1,008-yard receiving season with the run-first Ravens and hooked up for 74 catches, 1,312 yards, and 10 touchdowns with Murray during their college days.

With Murray's ability to extend plays, Brown's elite speed will come in handy, as he is difficult to cover for long stretches. And with Hopkins missing the first six games, Brown will be thrust into a more prominent role early.
