Our Oregon vs. USC prediction rooted in the best college basketball odds believes the Trojans will keep their losing streak going to six games when the Ducks come to town on Thursday.

The USC Trojans (8-12, 2-7 Pac-12) hope a new month brings different results because January got ugly for them in a hurry. USC went 2-6 during its first month of Pac-12 play and now carries a five-game losing streak into Thursday's home meeting with the Oregon Ducks (14-6, 6-3).

Oregon has also encountered a slump, dropping three of its last four games, with a recent loss to Arizona in its latest matchup. The Ducks are listed as short road favorites, indicating that this might be USC's best chance to return to the win column.

In conjunction with our College Basketball best bets, here is our best Oregon vs. USC prediction and our college basketball picks (odds via our best March Madness betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Oregon vs. USC prediction

Oregon moneyline ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -143 via BetRivers

Here's a secret for how to bet on college basketball: Markets are extremely sharp by the time we reach the regular season's final month. Not only do oddsmakers better understand all these teams, but bettors are often paying a tax to wager on any "situational" spot in the schedule.

I say all this because Kenpom, which is usually extremely efficient and in lockstep with the books this time of year, projects Oregon to win by a single point on Thursday in a 77-76 affair. That should tempt us into taking the +3 with the Trojans at home, purely based on the apparent discrepancy. But the metrics have been too high on USC all year.

USC started the season ranked No. 21 overall on Kenpom and didn't drop out of the top 50 until January despite a 6-7 start. The Trojans have only recently fallen from 61st to 94th during this five-game skid, which includes a 15-point home loss to UCLA (98th) last time out.

Oregon, which is ranked 50th overall on Kenpom, is in a position to break out of its rut. The Ducks are 28th in 3-point percentage (37.6%), going up against one of the worst teams in the country at defending the 3-ball, with USC ranking 310th in that metric. The Trojans also cough up a turnover rate of 19.1%, which ranks 279th in the nation.

USC is coming off its worst performance of the season, and we don't believe in its chances of bouncing back against a superior Oregon team on Thursday.

Our best sports betting apps favor Oregon by a single possession on the road, but we don't like the idea of laying as much as -3 with the visitors. Instead, we will eat the juice and pay the moneyline value for the Ducks to win outright on Thursday.

This line is trading between -143 and -150 at all the major shops, so we are taking a slight discount by placing this bet at BetRivers. This wager is good to -150 based on our projections for this conference battle.

Oregon vs. USC odds analysis

Oregon opened as a 2-point favorite at our best sportsbooks before climbing to as high as -3 due to plenty of support on the visiting team. The total started at 149.5 and got as high as 151, but has since settled around 148 via our best sports betting sites.

So far this season, the Ducks are 12-8 against the spread with a 12-8 clip to the Over. The Trojans are 9-11 ATS and 13-7 to the Over.
