Two contenders in the National League face off in the first Sunday Night Baseball following the All-Star break. Here are our San Diego Padres-New York Mets same-game parlay picks.

The Padres and Mets appear to be two teams from the National League destined for postseason play. Jockeying for positioning in the bracket is as important as ever with only two teams from each league receiving a bye through the first wild-card round.

Can Carlos Carrasco keep up his recent stretch of strong pitching to neutralize the impact of San Diego's ace Joe Musgrove on the other side?

Here are my same-game parlay picks for the Sunday Night Baseball matchup between the Padres and Mets (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Padres vs. Mets Same-Game Parlay Picks

Same-Game Parlay Predictions for Padres vs. Mets

Carrasco Over 5.5 strikeouts (+125)

Carrasco has pitched some of his best baseball of the season recently, allowing just three earned runs over his last three outings (17 1.3 innings). Additionally, the 35-year-old veteran has piled up 19 strikeouts in those three games, clearing the benchmark of 5.5 Ks in two of the three.

In his last 10 starts, Carrasco has cleared this line six times. He's averaging better than a strikeout per inning on the season and will face a Padres lineup that strikes out more than eight times per game. If Carrasco can pitch into the sixth or deeper for the fourth outing in a row, ample strikeouts should accompany that effort.

Mets ML (-132)

My expectation is for Carrasco to flirt with a quality start against a San Diego lineup that has a top-10 OPS against left-handed pitching, but sees that OPS drop to .681 against righties (23rd in MLB). Even in a winning effort, the Padres were held in check offensively by the Mets so far this weekend.

Though Musgrove is an All-Star pitcher, he struggled in his final start prior to the All-Star break, allowing five earned runs. Musgrove will tangle with a Mets lineup that includes Francisco Lindor's 1.257 OPS against the San Diego ace in 15 career plate appearances.

Lindor to hit a home run (+440)

Lindor is 5-for-14 against Musgrove in his career with a batting line that includes a pair of home runs. The Mets shortstop has also been on a hot stretch of late. Though his 11-game hitting streak was snapped Friday in the team’s first game back from the break, Lindor had launched three home runs during that run through early July while posting a cumulative .906 OPS during the streak.

After getting back on the horse with a base hit in Saturday's game, Sunday's matchup could be the one that puts Lindor back into orbit with his fifth home run of the month. If it happens, it pairs well with our Mets moneyline pick to make the most of the parlay odds on FanDuel.

Combined Odds: Carrasco Over 5.5 strikeouts (+128) + Mets ML (-132) + Lindor to hit a home run (+440) = +1448
