Michigan is back in the top 25 after posting an impressive 17-10 win over Oklahoma in Week 2, and now, my Michigan vs. UTEP prediction targets the Wolverines' elite defense.  No. 19 Michigan is a -34.5-point betting favorite at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, ahead of Saturday's 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (BTN).

Under 49.5 (-110 via bet365)

It's unlikely that UTEP finds the end zone in this game. The Miners were shut out by the Sooners in Week 1, and now, they'll face the Wolverines' top-20 scoring defense.

Michigan has held its opponents to 1 total touchdown and 3.1 YPC. The Wolverines limited Mateer and the Sooners to a 51.5 percent completion rate and under 200 yards through the air, while forcing a couple of turnovers.

Bryce Underwood made big strides from Week 1, cleaning up his turnovers with a miscue-free outing against the Sooners last Saturday. Michigan's identity under head coach Kyle Whittingham remains run-centric, with Underwood and star RB Jordan Marshall.

Expect the Wolverines offense to chew game clock and dominate time of possession. UTEP won't be able to muster much on offense, especially in another hostile road environment.

bet365 is one of the only shops still offering 49.5 for a current point total. Bet Under 49.5 at -110 odds.

📡 SBR Edge: Unders in Ann Arbor

The point total under has cashed in six consecutive home games played at Michigan Stadium.

Shutout brewing in the Big House

Michigan Stadium, also nicknamed the "Big House", is likely going to see the Wolverines post their first shutout of the season on Saturday. UTEP's offense finished 99th in the nation under current head coach Scotty Walden last season, and so far, the Miners' only production came against an FCS opponent (Texas State) in Week 2.

Oklahoma managed to use its own talented defense to shut out UTEP in Week 1. Michigan now gets an opportunity to achieve the same result against the same opponent, following a master class defensive effort against the Sooners in Week 2.

Score prediction: Michigan 45, UTEP 0
