The Racing Commission voted in December to approve mobile sports betting, and sports betting in retail sportsbooks has been legal since 2019.
Additionally, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is supportive of the legalization of mobile sports betting, as long as the appropriate rules are adopted.
Hutchinson is aware of the regional competition faced with Tenneesse and Louisiana.
After Tennessee authorized mobile wagering, the sports-betting handle at Arkansas’ Southland Casino Racing dropped by millions of dollars. Southland is across the Mississippi River from its largest market, Memphis, Tennessee.
Arkansas already missed out on the opportunity to cash in on Super Bowl LVI, so ensuring mobile betting is in place ahead of March Madness has to be a priority, right?
