C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State
A sterling 71.9 completion percentage and 44 touchdown passes helped Stroud guide the Buckeyes to an 11-2 record, earning him a fourth-place showing in the Heisman Trophy voting in the process. While wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson graduated to the professional ranks, wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba is still around to make big plays on Saturdays.
Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was the first Crimson Tide quarterback to earn the honor. Young is looking to be also be the first player to win the award in consecutive seasons since Ohio State running back Archie Griffin won in consecutive seasons in the 1974 and 1975.
Will Anderson, LB, Alabama
The third-year linebacker paced college football in sacks (17.5) and tackles for a loss (34.5) last season en route to securing the Bronko Nagurski Award as the nation’s best defensive player. Will Anderson Jr. projects to be a game-changing edge rusher at the professional level.
Paris Johnson, OL, Ohio State
A 13-game starter at right guard for the Buckeyes in 2021, Paris Johnson Jr. is shifting to left tackle this season. His 6-foot-6, 315-pound frame and pedigree as a five-star recruit will be coveted next April, and barring injury, Johnson will be one of the first offensive linemen selected.
