2022-23 NFL Bold Predictions

Jalen Hurts Helps Philadelphia Lead NFL in Scoring

The addition of wide receiver A.J. Brown to an already talented – albeit unproven – group of skill-position players has the Philadelphia Eagles offense positioned to be one of the most dynamic and dangerous in the league this season.

Hurts just might be the quarterback to put them over the top, too.

While his dual-threat ability is in question following offseason surgery to his left ankle, the third-year quarterback doesn’t line up against a schedule of defenses resembling the ‘85 Bears, either. In fact, it could be argued Philadelphia has one of the easiest slates in the league.

Caesars Sportsbook has the Eagles at +1600 to lead the NFL in points this year, and if they’re going to take a run at it, Hurts will be the reason why.

Lamar Jackson Paces NFL in Rushing Yards

A quarterback has never led the NFL in rushing yards, and Jackson topped out at a 1,206 total during his MVP campaign in 2019.

So, obviously, a lot would need to go right for Jackson to pull off the feat.

With a mixture of injuries to the league’s top running backs alongside the increased reliance on committee backfields, there might just be the perfect formula in 2022.

FanDuel Sportsbook is hanging a +4000 number that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback will top the rushing-leaders list at year’s end.

Far short of a true longshot.

Trey Lance Fails to Lead 49ers to Playoffs

One of the biggest question marks for the San Francisco 49ers is whether second-year quarterback Trey Lance is ready to lead the offense?

After all, Lance only played one game during the 2020 collegiate season for the FCS North Dakota State Bisons, and then he only started two games last year while spending the bulk of his rookie campaign as an understudy to Jimmy Garoppolo.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the 49ers at a heavily juiced -225 to make the postseason in 2022, and the 49ers went to the NFC Conference Championship Game last year. Expectations remain high.

Still, just because head coach Kyle Shanahan and the rest of the San Francisco brass believes in Lance doesn’t mean you have to. The 49ers shouldn’t be considered a postseason lock with him behind center.
