25 pound bonus not honoured by BetUK
I opened an account with BetUK, on the promise of 25 pound bonus once turned over 100, and my initial bet was at least 25 pounds - I met the turnover requirement and was told that after 7 bets I had been classified as a "non-recreational" player! BetUK will not honour the 25 pound bonus. Has anyone else met with such problems?

Yes APK - I know of the connection. I had a devil of a job with SpBet to get my "riskfree" 50 football bet, but in fairness they gave it to me in the end. I think as I'm "non-recreational" with SpBet, they've classified me the same with BetUK. Surely I should have been told that as a SpBet non-rec player I wouldn't qualify for the BetUK bonus?

Today I started a thread entitled "25 pound bonus not honoured by BetUK" - I was unaware of the problem being discussed elsewhere on the forum. If I don't get anywhere, I shall approach IBAS for a ruling. All that nonsense regarding tipsters isn't relevant to whether you are a recreational player or not. Surely it's the type of business that you give BetUK isn't it?

Sorry to hear they give you such a hard time, especially since you don't know how they determine whether you're a recreational player, but what do you mean by 'that nonsense regarding tipsters'?

I've had a very weird experience with sportingbet btw: I've been de-gubbed.
I used to have heavy limits on my account but now I can put reasonable amounts on almost any soccer-market.

They maybe use automatic account review for limits, and the criteria changed slightly. Or you lost a little money, enough to take you out of the net?

Maybe it was my willingness to participate in the online questionnaires...
In the last 6 months I've made a small deposit and requested 2 withdrawals totalling 6 times the amount of that deposit.
I do however make sure that I always leave money in my account and don't do bonus hit & runs.

Are you the same HeeeHAWWWW from that English forum?
A lot of people there have problems with BetUK and sportingbet, probably because of the betting pattern that's favoured there.

Anyways, still crap that they don't honour the TS's bonus, it's only 25 pounds and this is bad publicity....

                That's me :-)

Never had a problem with them myself, but then I bet rather than chase their (tiny) bonuses. Limited quite a bit unfortunately :-(

When the BetUK ownership changed they did receive a downgrade over it due to the fact that they were under the Sportingbet family of books. Not sure what all can be done to rectify this matter, however you always always welcome to fill out a complaint form and one of us will inquire to them on your behalf sir.

Well in fairness I have received a very nice e-mail from Gemma Kelly of SportingBet, saying that the 25 bonus was in my BetUk account. Sure enough it was. I think that anyone with problems could do worse than e-mail her at SportingBet.
Reference to the tipsters was the clause that BetUK used when defending themselves against a complaint from a BetUK client. It's a clause that they have classifying tipsters as "non-recreational" players.
Strange thing at BetUK - I asked for 25 on a 16/1 shot yesterday and was cut back to 6.25. Today I asked for 15EW a 25/1 shot and they accepted the lot!

But what exactly do they mean by that?
I've got a blogabet and if people follow my tips they are non-recreational players?

Edit: Or would I be the villain?
                      How do they know?

I don't know how they knew - the details are on the "similar thread" started by JoshW (see below) - it's a judgement ruling in BetUK's favour by the Alderney Gaming Commission.
