    Greek Wire - Quasi Theft
So I need to reload my Greek account. I send a wire on the 18th (July). I call on the 25th. Not there... I wait till ~10th Aug. I call my bank. They annoy me and are very unhelpful. I go back to my branch to trace it. Wire got there on the 25th (July). I call today. They have no clue where it is and I'm suppose to call back for a supervisor.

So essentially at this point in time Greek is holding my money, has not credited to my account, and is unsure of wtf they're doing. I'm suppose to call back in an hour for a "senior supervisor". Regardless, their behavior is absurd and their competence very low.

It's not an infrequent occurrence when wiring money internationally, I recently wired myself money from a UK bank account to a Cypriot one, and it took the bank in Cyprus about 3 weeks between them receiving the wire and crediting it to the correct recipient account, they claimed a typing error when inputting the information caused it to get mislaid.

So it may be The Greek, but it's just as likely to be their bank hasn't yet credited it to their account, or has done so with an incorrect reference.

Yeah, I don't think they're doing it out of malice, just stupidity.

They managed to un****tify themselves. My favorite part of the conversation:

"We don't accept bank wires from business accounts."
"You accepted mine and have held my money for over 3 weeks."
        "You have a point."

It seems they were going to just keep my money since it came from my business account instead of directly my personal (My name and everything are the only ones on this business acct). Also, their policy of not accepting business wires is pretty lol.

You did have a very unique situation Thremp. I'm not saying the book was in the right in this particular case, however it was a business account though. Not too many people here would wire it through that type of account I wouldn't think.

I've found that bankwires only get lost because incompetent people don't know how to do their jobs.

FWIW Matchbook gets my wires in 2 days and will transfer out even without a 1x rollover. That may be account specific though.

              BBD,

I can understand a little more since they got confused. I'm just stunned that they would accept the wire, and not give any sort of effort to allocate it. If there is an account number included and they accept the wire, I fail to see any reason why they should just "hang onto it" instead of sticking it into the account listed.

Even the best places are rife with stupidity.

I am pretty sure ** and ** have like a 1k or 2k limit. And there is no limit to how many you can send per week, but I guess the paperwork would become prolific if the amount was large enough.

WTF? Did you steal a linesmaker from Bodog?

BTW This was my first effort at sending a wire. I had heard Durito touting its virtues and figured I needed to learn more ways than just **/**. Which considering the problems that ** is having, kinda was good... I guess.

Or I could just stop ****ing losing and not have to deposit. Whatev.

                                  SBR does not understand(myself included)

Next thing you know you'll be talking about "withdrawing".

                                  Withdrawing/not losing/not being a degenerate = way overrated

There are banks that allow you to send online bank wires (perhaps only one, pm me if you want to know).

This lets you fill in the form yourself (since 99% of bank employees don't know how) and assure it gets there quickly. Unless the book fails of course like this case.
