Do Vegas and Offshore Wagering Mix?

Are there any impediments to living in Las Vegas, Nevada and wagering at both the brick-and-mortor casinos and offshore websites?

In other words, if a person became a resident of Nevada, could they continue using their offshore accounts from home or would the state of Nevada somehow try to stop you?

That said, I have never heard of any prosecutions in Nevada for this.

I wonder how the State of Nevada would even know that a Nevada resident was using offshore websites?

Even when the person declares his/her gambling income, I don't think that he/she would distinguish between income won at offshore sites versus income from brick-and-mortor sportsbooks. I don't think the Federal tax form asks for such a clarification and there isn't any Nevada State tax to ask for such a clarification.

The only scenario that could possibly tip off the IRS would be reporting, say, $150,000 in gambling income period, which would not match the $100,000 that the brick-and-mortor sportsbook reported to the IRS in your name because let's assume you had made the extra $50,000 from offshore websites) But even then, would that scenario really trigger an IRS audit/investigation? To answer my own question..... I suppose it could. We're becoming a police-state after all.
(It's not like we're as free as the europeans or Asians or the rest of the world....oh wait...Bush says "they hate us for our freedom" But I digress)

By the way, doesn't this seem as if the UIGEA was basically an extension of the Nevada State law prohibiting offshore website gambling being applied to the entire United States?

Wouldn't it be reasonable to surmise that it was the Nevada brick-and-mortor casinos who bribed the Republican Congressman to pass the UIEGA because of lost revenue to the competitive offshore websites? They knew they couldn't get internet gambling 100% legalized so then why not bribe the politicians to put an end to the offshore websites and do it all in the name of "Morality!"

hey, just another question in regard to this topic, i live in a country where wagering is all legal etc, i can use whatever offshore book i like. lets say i was to come over to the US for a holiday. how would that work? i would have to abide by your laws wouldnt i? il use pinny as an example, atm i could use them, if i was in the states doing online wagers could you get away with it? if i was on my laptop doing them,

im guessing they could work out where the conection is coming from right?
