    BetOnline - huh? phone call
I opened a BetOnline account yesterday so that I can participate in an SBR contest, with the prizes being BetOnline funds. I'd received a mailer from them last week and had been planning on opening with them anyway due to good SBR reviews.

I was eating lunch just a little while ago, and got a call from my "account manager" who's name I don't recall. Thanked me for setting up an account with them, noticed I don't have any funds, blah blah. Said I was going to be depositing "a dime, dime and a half" for football season soon. Tells me football starts, what'd he say, this week or something, and asks "are you sure you can't make a deposit?"

Ok, now I just said I was going to dep between $1k-1500 fairly soon, why are you sweating me? The only other sportsbook to call me like that is BetUS, a very highly regarded () book on this site, so........am I overreacting, was this guy just trying to make some deposit quota, or what?

Thats funny, Richard from Bet Online called me on Tuesday with the same shit. Two weeks ago I called to deposit 900$ and the girl tells me I should deposit a grand so I could win more. I told her this was disgusting and it was a sure way to piss people off. I mean does she think we are all stupid I asked her. Obviously someone could win more if they were betting it all on one game but they could obviously lose more too I tell her. I went off on her because this was pathetic strategy and I may even stop playing there because of this attempt by her. Can they make it any more obvious they are working on commission?

Thing is, I don't mind a phone call really, but when asking if I'm sure I don't want to dep now as opposed to like, what, 2-3 weeks, when I just said I opened the account for football.........I guess matchbook just gets all of it

Cold calling during this time frame will probably be even more rampant over the next weeks due to preseason football starting.

I never got any calls from BetOnline. I feel a little left out.

Yeah, but that's why there are different types of books for different types of players. Can't have all pro catered books like Pinny and Cris.

I'm sure there are players there that wager those types of amounts.

I started out with Pinny with a $500 deposit and playing 5$ a game. I moved up my betting amounts fairly quickly but I think more than a few people would go that route. If they didn't want small bets they could always raise the minimum bet, which has always stood at $1.

No sense paying extra vig even if you are just betting small amounts, though in hindsight I probably would've done it differently.

yes besides low juice they have the big bonus option which i guess if a player really took advantage of can use the bonus[houses money] and beat them up with it but i honestly would rather have low juice

having the min at $1 is kind of nice

A couple of months back. But then again, I am a call screener. If it's a number I am not familiar with, I let it go to voice mail.

The only call I ever got from them was to tell me they were freezing my account until I promised not to bet so many half-time NBA wagers.....

When I called a few weeks ago to make a $400 deposit they responded, "don't you wanna make it 5". What idiots, so I responded"I wanna make it zero now" I haven't called them back since! They were a solid book for me the last 6 months, I was +2k apx. with them. I'll send my action elsewhere now, with a book with class!
