Do they have an equivalent to FDIC insurance? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. If not, then I wouldn't say they're the same exactly. Even very large banks fail occasionally, but there is a safety net for consumers there.

To be clear, I wasn't asking if they are FDIC insured. They obviously aren't since FDIC is specific to banks. I was wondering if they have some sort of equivalent, either by choice or required by law.
