1. In your case yes. New Jersey is one on the states that basically uses a blanket, gambling is illegal policy. It doesn't specifically state online gambling, but say all gambling, unless of course it is licensed as in the casinos and stuff. Other states, like Texas, it is legal and is stated in the laws as long as it is not done in a public place. Oh, I should add you can gamble online in New Jersey if there is no value to the game you are playing.

2. Basically no financial institution can be used to fund gambling. So, wire transfer, Money Gram, any place that transfers money for that purpose is breaking the law. Of course the banking industry hates this because now they have to be judge, jury, and executioner, something they have never had to do in the past and it is putting a strain on the banking industry. Again, in this case, it is not illegal to you, but for the institution.

3. It is not that tough to receive funds. The banking industry did not accept the UIGEA with open arms due to the ambiguity of the law. The enforcement that is required is just not something the banking industry can do effectively at all. Now if you walk in a say, "Hey I just won a lot of money from online gambling and this check right here is from those winnings." Then, yes, you might find it difficult to receive the money. As for reporting it to the IRS, yes, of course. Not reporting it is illegal under IRS tax code.

4. Penalties vary from state to state... a felony in Washington State to not a crime in others. Your state is a misdemeanor.

I've bet a little every year for the past 5 years and never had a problem. I deposited 50$ from my debit card before every football season and never had trouble. Does the law just not care about small time gamblers or are they just unable to catch them? I know several people who have played poker on line as well with no problems. How is this happening if its illegal?

If its illegal in NJ is there a way I can legally place bets over the internet with a casino in NJ or anywhere else that its legal?

Its illegal to place bets on line but if you do win you have to declare them? Isn't that sending mixed signals? If you declare your winnings won't you be admitting you did something illegal and opening your self up to jail time or a fine?

On your last question, there are many places to gamble in the US that are perfectly legal. You are claiming income from gambling, but not where you gambled at.

Just because something is illegal in the letter of the law, doesn't mean it is easily enforceable. If you are from NJ and place a bet online, that is not sanctioned by NJ, then you are technically committing a crime.

Another thing you must keep in mind, that if the US passes a law that regulates online gambling and makes it legal in the US, if you live in NJ it will still be against the law because of your state laws. Hopefully your state will change them if this happens.

for your question, most of the bookies dont accept US clients. for a reason of the
restrictions of the US government. They dont allow online gambling,. I think the
penalty will be in prison,.lols! and that is not good for you..

USA where ever you are, whichever state you are in, GAMBLING IS ILLEGAL.
If you insist to gamble online, do not use your direct bank account. Use e-wallets, western union, moneygram, etc.

You could also use an agent for this matter, someone that lives in the country where the book is located at that you can trust in, it's kind of risky if you don't know him/her in person, but it's another way to go around the law.

What about prepaid debit card for deposits from US players. How easy is that to do? Do you have to pay by cash at one of the locations or is there a better way to feed the card.

I'm a us player use moneygram all the time.Call book get destination/receiver info for your transfer form,bring form and money to moneygram location.clerk will send funds to account,no qestions asked.your account will be up and running in 2 or 3 hours.Also my book picks up all moneygram fees.Not exactly sure what the max limit is that you can send,but it works for me.

I wouldn't say quite no questions asked, since over $900 they ask for your drivers license and over $3k they ask for you occupation and SS#... I even had them ask this for a $2k transaction because the employee didn't really know how to handle it. I had ** screw up and when I call it in they wanted to know why I was sending and if I knew the person... Of course they only asked this because they wanted to inform me that they would not guarantee the money if I did not know the person personally. Didn't know what that was about and didn't care, in-the-end the transaction went through fine.

First time I used **,I was a little nervous knowing the form had a south American country on it. I sent a $1000.00,the girl didn't even blink an eye,I was alreay for the third degree.Didnt ask for drivers license or anything,gave me back the form and said have a good day.I said to myself that was to easy.

I remember the first times feeling really nervous too. I too, have had a few times where they don't ask for any ID or anything around $1K. Like you said, most of time, no questions asked, but there are a few times when they do... Not that it really matters giving your ID or even your SS#...
