Betfair: the tennis match A. Kalinskaya vs S. Rogers
One of many exhibition matches, the tournament is called Women Exhibition MatchPlay120 at Pinnacle, or GST tours

    Match Play 120 at Betfair.

    A. Kalinskaya vs S. Rogers. At Betfair, yesterday evening (I mean European time evening) the scheduled time of

play was set to: 20:00 CET.

The match really started few minutes earler and was interrupted even due to rain, but finally finished maybe before

22:00 CET. S. Rogers won in two sets (I had a stream of it and watched the match).

Betfair did not turn the match (though promised) "in-play" once it really started, but later on, even changed the

scheduled time to next day, Monday June 8th, at 18:00 (CET).

So it seems they are "happily" taking bets on a finished match.

Will you (those of you, who have the access to Betfair) have a look, please ?

And confirm it, please, that I am seeing it correctly ? Please, do it quickly as they may remove it soon.

I have lost some 2 100 EUR 6 days ago, similar situation, when Betfair did not turn another tennis match "in-play",

normally accepting bets on the live match (but it was not with the 5-6 seconds delay). I played it like an arb and

they voided all bets, grading it many hours after the match finished.

help me with rules understanding, please

My English is not good and I am not sure if Betfair VOIDed my bets correctly, or not.

    Let me describe the situation.

Last Tuesday night I played a tennis match, Z. Svajda vs E. Nava.

I was LAYing Nava. Scheduled time of play at Betfair was at 01:00 CET June 3rd.

The match really started about 1 hour earlier, but they (Betfair) did not turn the match to the "in-play" mode.

At 01:00 CET it was normally suspended and never turne in-play.

Some 10 hours took to grade the match - as VOID.

Unfortunately I played it and lost 2 100 EUR here. Probably my fault. But is not Betfair responsible to watch all their

events and once they notice they match already started, should they either suspend it, or turn to the LIVE mode ?

I emailed Betfair, they explained something like "we had to VOID it because we did not turn it in-play once the

    match started..."

Could anybody have a look at the rules, please ? And let me kindly know, if they did it with accordance to their rules

? Thank you very much in advance.

Some rules that may apply might be found here ?

Exchange Rules and Regulations, Part B - General Rules, 1 Managing Markets In-Play,

1.2All markets other than soccer markets and Australian markets - not suspending at the time of the 'off'

    • In relation to markets which are scheduled to be turned in-play, Betfair aims to use its reasonable endeavours to turn such markets in-play at the time of the 'off'. The time of the 'off' for such markets should be set out in the Market Information. However, regardless of what it says in the Market Information, Betfair does not guarantee that such markets will be suspended and turned in-play at the time of the 'off'.
    • If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair does not suspend the market and cancel unmatched bets at the time of the 'off' and the market is not turned in-play with unmatched bets cancelled at any time during the event, all bets matched after the scheduled time of the 'off' will be void (in the case of horseracing and greyhound racing, bets will be void from the official rather than the scheduled 'off' time). If the event does not have a scheduled 'off' time, Betfair will use its reasonable endeavours to ascertain the time of the actual 'off' and all bets after the time of the 'off' determined by Betfair will be void.
    • If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair does not suspend the market at the time of the 'off' (so unmatched bets are not cancelled at that time), but the market is intentionally turned in-play at a later time during the event, all bets matched after the time of the 'off' will stand.

Yes they have voided correctly by those rules.

      Because once the error was realized, Betfair chose to not enable in-play, this rule applies;

"If a market is scheduled to be turned in-play but Betfair does not suspend the market and cancel unmatched bets at the time of the 'off' and the market is not turned in-play with unmatched bets cancelled at any time during the event, all bets matched after the scheduled time of the 'off' will be void".

They could have chosen to still enable live-in-play if they wanted to, in that case bets would have stood.

I am guessing as so much time had passed since the match started they felt it was too late.

Optional, thank you very much for explaining (confirming).

Anyway, it is strange what happening at Betfair (previous weeks/months )with that matches (for example Kalinskaya

        vs Rogers).

If they are offering a match that already ended, something is wrong...

There has been recent changes in the company ownership. That may explain it.
