They have a zero tolerance policy for anyone they think knowingly tries to take advantage of them.

Tony was good at walking the thin line between enforcing that fairly or not.

Just tell him the truth is my advice. If you read about the leaked result before betting somewhere, tell him. If you made the bet chasing the falling odds, tell him that. Don't worry about arguing about why he cares or what he should do about it.

I was wondering why it wasn't available Sunday before the matches, so they did take it down at some point. If 5Dimes left the bet up after news leaked on who won, that's on them, for not being quick enough, not on any bettor. Did they cancel EVERY bet on anyone, after they claim the news leaked, or just bets on Otis?
This is like a book not responding quickly enough to injury info. Not a bettor's fault if he beats a book to the punch.

Just tell them you made the bet because the odds changed. If they close your account it looks bad on 5dimes.

That’s on 5Dimes for taking wagers on WWE. Everyone knows it’s scripted , it’d be like taking a bet on tomorrow’s episode of days of our lives and then bitching about the episode outcome being leaked. Of course it was leaked. Pay up 5D , take your lumps and move on, the bad press from this will be much more detrimental.

and who is this Percy guy? Is he the new 5D strong arm?

Basically gave me no option. I asked to speak to his manager but he told me he doesn't speak to customers. So they make money on everyone who didn't bet OTIS and cancel everyones bet who took him LOL. What can I expect I guess. Not even sure what my next step would be as any time I try to contact them I just get pushed off to this Percy guy.

kind of shady to just accept the losses but then say it was leaked info for the winning bets and not pay

honestly, what made you bet otis?

tell them you were betting falling odds as mentioned. i do it with table tennis since i know jack shit about that sport. it is on them to know they are allowing betting on a scripted event that is now taped because of the pandemic. before the pandemic it was scripted but at least happened live.

Let me preface this by saying that I am in no way making excuses for 5Dimes' behavior here. But as to the bolded, I'm sure they knew very well that it was a scrpted and pre-taped event. Many sportsbooks put out lines on such events all the time. However, if knowledge leaks out into the public, I would understand them deciding to void ALL wagers made on BOTH sides after that leak occurred. And, of course, I would expect them to not act like mafioso during the process.

i don't think they should void bets on either side, who is to say whether the leak was good info, and whether people knew about it
maybe i should've been questioned why i was dumb enough to fade otis when everyone knew he won

That's actually a really good point. I think back to this past Game of Thrones season where there were like a dozen conflicting leaks (because people want their moment in the sun) and you had to try to sniff out which ones might be legit. I know there were a lot of people who lost their shirts because they rode the wrong horse.

And then there were the recent NBA2K tournament. Books like 5Dimes very quickly took back their money on leaks which ended up being legit, but they gladly kept the money for all the losers who bet on fake leaks in other matches. With this policy, "leaks" are actually really good for business at 5Dimes - they're essentially a free roll for them.

Books like BOL or Bookmaker will usually respond to leaks by simply adjusting the odds in accordance with the action. And they'll take the line down if it gets to be ridiculous, but they very rarely will void wagers under those conditions.
