After reading the explanations, I'm still unsure of how 'exchanges' actually work? Once you have joined these sites, do you set the odds or you can bet against other people setting the odds? Can someone explain in laments terms how do exchanges work?

Does it work kind of like this: Lets say, there is a game with Manchester United and Brimingham. The average odds offered for the game is United to win 1/7, Birmingham 16/1. Can I say offer odds on matchbook for Birmingham to win at 30/1 and them people bet my play?

You can request 30/1 but no one will give it to you

If the prices are 1.7 for man utd and you want 1.72 you may get it accepted, if you request 2.00 you wont.

You can also offer 1.7 yourself and it will get accepted, if you offer 1.3 it wont be matched, simple

You have to be realistic on what odds you want or what odds you offer and generally speaking it will be accepted

You can either take the offers other people have posted, or you can post your own odds and hope somebody takes your offer. Then at matchbook, they take a % commission out of your win or loss. Its really not complicated and you can practice with betting a dollar or something to see how it works if you are unsure.
