#37The only thing i could clarify is that i have actually been thrown around between different support teams on betfair, which is one of the reasons to why this case has been so protracted. The latest request, about the P&L report, is from the VIP account manager.
So.... do you think i should go on and search for that paper or leave it here?Comment -

#41I don't know what country or part of the world the OP is in... but if any book pulled that sh#$ with me... I'd walk. Oh trust me... there would be a book that would want to do business with you... and I'd find it.
Getting a little outrageous with some of these rules. It's hard enough beating the odds when making a wager... now I have to play mickey mouse games with books wanting to know more about me? You want to know more about me??? Come over for Christmas dinner. Better yet come party with me on my birthday.
Fukking get real.Comment -

#42Well, Betfair isn't exactly a book. It's an exchange and they practically have a monopoly considering the fact other exchanges (Smarkets, Matchbook, Betdaq) don't have anywhere near the liquidity and number of markets that Betfair offers.
An option for OP would be to get an agent account and avoid these issues...but you'd have to trust the agent with your money.Comment -

If the choice was I could access only UK regulated books or offshore books, I'd take offshore in a heartbeat. Better odds, just as reliable with being paid and better at handling disputes mostly.
The only thing UK and Euro books have that is better is the bonuses and live betting options. But despite being regulated guess where most of the complaints about bonuses being cancelled come from?!
I can use Australian versions of the UK books which are a little better regulated, so KYC not as bad, but I still find the concept that a bookmaker gets to demand answers to such personal questions objectionable..Comment -

#48Just a "source of wealth" request. I withdrew all funds from Skrill yesterday which are safely in my bank account today so I can ignore them and dont rely on them particularly, although they are useful for quick transactions so would prefer to carry on using them.
They have fully ID'd me a year ago, I dont mind them seeing that my exchange account details are the same and its me lol, but wanting to see profit and loss and things I have bet on I think is too much and could compromise the security of my betfair account.
I have told skrill I fund them from my bank account, and have substantial savings which I use for betting, but it seems they insist I send them the above info which I am not comfortable about.Comment -

#50I didnt mention whether I win or lose, just was completely honest and told them I use betfair, and fund it from my savings that I have had for many years.
Im just a bit worried that with all that information someone could phone up Betfair and pass themselves off as me, and also think its information they should not be asking for in the 1st place and is none of their business.Comment -

If you didn't mention betting as your income source I am at a bit of a loss to guess what they are looking for with that sort of info too. Like the case of the OP and Betfair..Comment -

#56call them because they basically ignore most emails since its just a handful of people in one building handling the emails of both skrill/neteller
you always need to call them after a day to confirm they even read your email and directed it to the right department
seriously hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with and they will even lie straight to your face at times so be preparedComment -

#60I didn't mean to imply that I have never received a reply ever from them. But a few times after sending an inquiry, probably through their inquiry interface, I may have gotten the auto-reply but never a follow-up and answer to whatever question I may have had. Maybe it depends where you live or if you're a vip account or something. And I'm certainly not the only person it's happen to. I haven't used them much in the last few years so maybe they have improved things since being bought by Neteller.Comment -

#61Bulle where are you from? Maybe they think you are using a VPN. are you?
I am from canada. I got my brother living in Australia to open an account under his name and address and i used them for 2 months using a VPN. After i racked up about 12k in winnings, they suspended my account asked for all sort of verification including the most recent tax return. I was like wtf. I got scared and stopped using them after, but they did allow me to withdraw the remaining funds to my brothers bank account after a lengthy email battle. so now instead of using the lay option in the betting exchange, i simply use pinnacle to back the opposite side of the lay bets.
I think it is ridiculous that books can ask for tax return, proof of income etc...its not like they are giving you a line of credit. You are depositing money into them!!!
I am in search for a good exchange that accepts canadians because i have a very good source for lay bets but no luck so far. top exchanges pulled out of canada.Comment -

#62If you have not made any deposits since the original deposits, then you were only playing with the winnings and the books should know that just by looking at the history...no? Why would the want proof if you are still playing with the original deposit from 10 years ago?Comment -

#65This is why everyone reading this should immediately go and fund their nitrogensports account. Talking is one thing, supporting a business doing things the right way is another. Fukk Great Britain and its clunky nosy bookies who limit you the minute you win five quids - and will even give you the run around when you lose!Comment -

#66Update:
3 weeks after restriction my account is now finally reopened.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, I might have overreacted a little bit. It seems like it was only a regular routine check.
I still want to criticize Betfair though, for the way this case was handled, and i'm actually quite suprised that they are treating loyal high-stake players like this.
If they would have been little more helpful, this case could have been solved in 10 minutes.
However, it's their loss, not mine.Comment -

And secondly for people who dont have a job/fixed income but either live of their savings, partners income, betting winnings they need to be much more accepting of this as a lot of people that use Betfair exchange heavily will be in the later category!Comment
