    Industry down (like stock market)
How's the industry doing? According to SBR, going one year back:

    Books downgraded from A (A+, A, or A-) to B:
Canbet, WSEX, BlueSquare, Bodog, Vip Sports

Books upgraded from B to A:
    None!

Books downgraded from B to C:
    Canbet, Beted, Bodog, BetUSA

Books upgraded from C to B:
Sports-1, Bodog, Ehorse (downgraded to D+ since), Autobet, BetUSA

Only rising stars in recent years are Matchbook and BetPhoenix.

If this were the stock market I'd ask if the industry had reached a bottom.

To say the industry is in a death spiral would be over-dramatizing - but there is some serious toilet action.

These patterns in SBR ratings - bad as they are - don't even tell the whole story. If SBR was rating books on the same criteria they used to, we would see much more downward movement.

SBR has been grading on a curve. In recent years, books can bounce cheques and take months to do payouts - and not see any downgrade in rating - even if that rating is A. Years ago that wouldn't stand.

And the damnedest thing is, it is often correct. Meaning if you look at them on a curve, those books with their bounced cheques and slow-pays still are among the best. That's how bad things are out there.

I don't know if it has hit a bottom. It is a nervous summer.

Its also funny how books can outright stiff and steal from customers (SPORTBET) and SBR will not downgrade them at all. A few years back, SBR would have downgraded this corrupt outfit to a D or F. However with the current state of this industry and with SBR needing to make advertising money from these books, it seems like it takes a nuclear explosion to cause a downgrade.

        pokerplayer,

I reviewed the Sportbet complaint, and found that they handled it properly. I assure you, I call it like I see it regardless of a book's rating.

Justin, im just curious how much money sportbet pays SBR to keep that B rating. If you read the other thread where i quoted literally 30-40 posts from other people about how corrupt sportbet is, you will see that it is not just me. How many lies, problems, nopays, line adjustments, and bet limit decreases while someone is trying to reach a rollver does it take for a book to be downgraded from a B to D or F where they belong? No offense but you should be ashamed of yourself for siding with a place like that just because they hand over a few benjamins.
