    sportsbook check...weird
Hi, I recently got a check from sportsbook...it was from alliance and leicester..i dont know if you have ever heard of them before...the check was drawn on a xxxx account and I also bank with wachovia as well.. The bank teller ran the check and something popped up where she had to call someone...then she was on the phone with someone from international banking and they said go head and cash it...she then went to the manager and they were talking pretty much secretly for 10 mins and the bank manager told me "You cannot deposit this check, the check is bad"...which I dont know what to say too...I said she just got off the phone with someone and they said to put it through. so I was pretty weirded out about the situation but I've come to the conclusion that xxxx knows that this payment processor (which is located in great xxxx to my knowledge) is online gaming related and wont allow me to deposit the check? am I way off here or what? thanks a lot

Is it a legit check or not ? If it is legit, they have no reason to refuse it. Try another bank/branch of same bank IF you think the check is legit.

If you know it's a valid check you could always try another banking establishment or even one of those Wal-Mart money centers they advertise on TV.

Go to a bank that is not xxxx and open a new account using cash as the initial deposit.

Wait a few days, then deposit the check without getting any money bank, just a straight deposit. Don't ask if the check is "good", don't try to cash it, don't say anything other than "here is my deposit".

One of two things will happen. The check will be good and the deposit will go through.

Or, the check will not be good in which case the bank will cancel the deposit and return the check to you.

Do not try to withdraw anything from the bank until you know the check has cleared.

If the check "bounces" then you have an issue with the book.

Well if you know a way to cash an international check without a huge hassle then go for it. I certainly don't know of a way.

They're a UK bank, although owned by Santander in Spain. Big group.

Anyway, they're extremely anal about security, so I'm not surprised you're having issues.

Trust me, dont try to cash large checks like that at check cashing places. mi bro tried the same thing with one for 3000 n 2000, the lady said im takin this check n called the cops on him. he didn get in trouble n did get the check back but its not worth the hassle, they jus don like cashing large amounts period.
