    England -200 vs. Ecuador +700

This Sunday England faces an emerging Ecuador squad. England historically has had trouble with South American teams until Eriksson took the helm in 2001. Ecuador looked impressive with 2-0 victory over Poland and 3-0 win over Costa Rica while conceding no goals against. England on the other-hand has been struggling of late, not fulfilling the talent that roster holds. England has much to consider as they have little knowledge of the Ecuador squad while losing key striker Owen. Despite all the promise that Ecuador exhibits, England will win the match. Ecuador’s defense opens many questions, continuing to struggle marking players compounded by having no experience at this level of the World Cup. Look for England to expose this as both Rooney, and Gerrard are beginning to show their excellent striking qualities. England -200 is worth the cost to incur for the win.

    Portugal +200 vs. Netherlands +140

These two teams offer incredible value. Both have incredible young athletic talent flanked by experience and guile. The team to bet is Portugal +200. Portugal is on an incredible run of 17 unbeaten matches, while controversy seems to be coming from the Netherlands’ camp. Marco van Basten has recently criticized Ruud van Nistelrooij for poor quality expecting more from the premier striker and has recently announced that van Nistelrooij may be dropped from the Round of 16. Regardless of all of this Portugal is will emerage as the winner. They have so many scoring weapons while Figo captains the field controlling the tempo and superior set plays. Portugal +200 is immense value.

Ecuador +700 is the only positive EV bet among the 4.

I agree on the EV aspect - but as to playing to win? I am not so sure. England CLEARLY has the better talent - but when it comes to playing 'team' ball - Ecuador dominates.

England is in trouble with their strikers... But talent usually shines in these spots. England has more... Either way, +EV or not, I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 foot clown pole.

Ecuador has a LOT less experience in huge spots than most of the English players... That's a HUGE factor to me.

Always bet the favorite, football is not like other sports where luck decides.
Soccer has clear favorites and that's how it is...
